Hello everyone...... Well, we've finally finished our blog from the USA! What a trip! We hired a car (Charlie the Chevrolet) and spent 6 weeks driving 7,000 miles across the states from LA to New York, with a few diversions along the way. We had the most amazing time in the USA - it was a million times better than we expected. What a country! We spent most nights in countless Motels along the way and managed to dodge most of the fast food joints which are absolutely everywhere - although eating a Kentucky Fried Chicken in Kentucky was pretty cool! our first night in Christchurch
Hello folks! Well, we've travelled the length and breadth of New Zealand in the past three weeks - starting off in Christchurch on the South Island and finishing up in Auckland on the North Island. We travelled over 3000 miles in "Queenie" our trusty campervan and what an experience! This country has some truly spectacular scenery with lakes, mountains, raging rivers, fiords and the odd active volcano or two. Around every corner was a photo opportunity! The roads are so quiet we could go for miles without seeing another vehicle....more likely to bump into a sheep or two crossing the road. [View Full Entry]

Hello folks!! We've had such a blast in Oz, we haven't managed to write a blog for a while - so here it is - finally................... well.......we've been travelling Australia for the past month or so and it has been an awesome adventure! We left Sydney just after the New Year and headed down to Melbourne. Melbourne is a great city, full of trams to take you almost anywhere you want to go! (even to the Neighbours street which was somewhere Kaz wanted to see). From Melbourne we hired a camper van and spent a week travelling along the Great Ocean [View Full Entry]

Hope everybody had a great christmas and new year!! We arrived in Sydney after spending a few days in Singapore. Singapore was great fun even in the rain! We've been staying with Mikeys sister Jackie and her family over the christmas and new year holidays. Christmas was brilliant and we had a proper ozzie dinner of barbequed prawns and a huge salmon! Still couldn't believe we were wearing shorts and t-shirts on christmas day! New Year was amazing! We spent the day at a viewpoint overlooking the Sydney Opera House and the bridge. Loaded up with a big picnic, we chilled [View Full Entry]

So here we are in Singapore. We haven't blogged in Thailand because we've been enjoying the beaches and the sun too much! We've had the most amazing time in Thailand staying in beach bungalows by the sea, lazing around in our hammocks, swimming in crystal blue waters, trekking and loads more! We love Thailand, the people are so friendly and the food has been delicious - Mikey has enjoyed the thai green curry and Kaz enjoys a good pad thai. We've travelled from Bangkok to Koh Phangan, to Krabi to Koh Phi-Phi and Phuket and have used all sorts of transport [View Full Entry]

A big hello to everyone! We are are on the Thai island of Koh Phangan right now. It's a lovely island, but unfortunately we have had our camera pinched (whilst our back was turned for 5 minutes on a beach) so all of our Bangkok photos are lost and gone forever! (you can never be too safe I guess....) We enjoyed Bangkok - it's very busy and very humid - always lots going on. We took a ride on a tuk-tuk (motorbike taxi) and visited the home of the reclining Buddha - it's head sits 15 metres high!! The floating market [View Full Entry]

Rock On Hong Kong!

 Asia » Hong Kong
We love Hong Kong! We left Beijing last Wednesday and headed for the train station for our 24 hour sleeper train to Hong Kong. After heavy traffic on the way, we ended up having to rush for the train - the cashpoint was out of order so no money to get food for the journey either. Got to the gate just in time, only to be told we were at the wrong gate as we had to pass through passport control. Cue a chinese uniformed lady "follow me!" It was a mad dash across the railway station with huge backpacks on [View Full Entry]

bye bye BIG Beijing

 Asia » China » Beijing
Hello folks! This is our last day in Beijing before heading down south to Hong Kong! On our last day in Shanghai we dumped our backpacks at the train station in a locker and headed off to Luxun park, which was nearby. It was great! There were lots of chinese practicing Tai Chi, men playing card games, lots of badminton, karaoke courtesy of the locals and an outdoor style gym for the older folk - amazing - there were 70, 80, 90 year old chinese men and women lifting themselves up on monkey bars, swinging, stretching, running and all sorts - [View Full Entry]

Well...where do we start?? Arrived in Shanghai after a 10 hour flight and no sleep! Saw an amazing sunrise over China from our plane. We got on the Maglev train from the airport to the city centre - it travelled at 450 km/h - pretty cool! We arrived in the city centre with very heavy backpacks and spent ages looking for somewhere to stay. We actually ended up asking a french guy and he showed us a place and got us a discount - result! We looked out over a school from our room and the kids were doing some kind [View Full Entry]
