Kinder was very thirsty after her train ride to Bologna!
07.26.06 I am currently sitting in the Grotowski Centre. Amazing. I’m in Poland!! I made it, finally. Let me explain- I left Park in Italy on Monday. I took a train to Forli airport. I got on my crowded flight to Frankfurt, during which time my phone alarm clock went off, even thought the phone was off, and rude old Italian men laughed at me and the flight attendants were very mean. I arrived at Frankfurt Hahn a little early, and thought, good, i’ll be asleep in an hour. Nope. Frankfurt HAHN is two hours from Frankfurt Main. Smart, me. So, [View Full Entry]

Kinder does not do well without a good caffé in the morning. Or five.
07.23.06 I was trying to sleep in this morning, as Park doesn’t get done in the days until 1:30, and someone is hammering, apparently, on something that just will not get into the wall. Wow. My room has not been cleaned since I’ve been here, but this place is definitely better than the last one. I got an email from the hotel I left saying that I had to pay for 3 days for canceling. However, I re-read all of our communication and translated every page of their web site, and no where is there listed any sort of policy of [View Full Entry]

Well, I finally made it to Ravenna! It’s a really lovely town. I had a super early train that I was a tad too early for- so early that the subway wasn’t open yet and I had to walk to the train station- under a mile, so no problem. But, I made it just fine and made my train change on time and got here, to Ravenna around 10:30 AM. I asked a cabbie where my hotel was. Only 50 meters away, great! So, I headed towards the hotel, promptly passed the street and had to ask someone else. Luckily, my [View Full Entry]

My awesomely tiny room!
Blog 2 I’ve made it to Milan! I spent my first evening here (and en route) surrounded by what appeared to be an Italian high school adventure to Ireland. It was amazing. They all looked alike, and they were all SO loud. Some things do not change from country to country. However, once I reached Milan, I realized that most Italians really are that loud, all the time. And I don’t just mean the ones who shout ‘Ciao bella, salve!’ from their windows or scooters. Most, in general could be heard across the continent. And that hasn’t helped me feel more [View Full Entry]

We're taxi-ing in a long line of flights waiting to take off. And I am excited!
I sat in the airport for a good two hours, just being excited. I checked email, made a few calls and felt surprisingly normal considering the journey on which I was about to embark. Unreal, I thought, that I am neither panicking nor screaming in anticipation. I felt calm, and collected and ready for this journey and this new part of my life. I watched the clouds until the sun set just now on the flight. They were absolutely stunning. There is still a little bit of light reminding me of Atlanta just behind the wing, out my window. Imanaged to [View Full Entry]

Park?
Park?
This was how I found him after going out to get something from the car. Distressing.
Well, I am 7 days out from leaving the states. I feel ok about my preparation status. I got a backback, which I love and is very comfortable. Hooray REI. And I think I am well stocked in the toiletries and clothing department. Still waiting to hear about how the weather will be in Poland and Germany. I am hoping not cold, but somehow I sense that Imay be dissapointed. I have excellent news! I was really stupid when researching this 'Brzezinka' place that I was going to. Now, true, Brzezinka is the polish name for Birkenau, the camp attached to [View Full Entry]

I am back in Marietta, staying with my parents for the next 10 days until I leave. http://www.travelblog.org/gmaps/map_1wl.html Only 10 more days! My concert was a huge success!!! Everyone says they enjoyed themselves immensely, and we raised. . . (drumroll) 800 bones! Thank you so much to everyone who attended and to everyone who helped make the night flow smoothly. AND yesterday I finally got my US tax return for. . . 750 bones! Wooo! It pays to think you're still a dependant and take out extra taxes all year and then find out you are not! I have a GA [View Full Entry]
