Too bad the people who should read this very well written article will forever stay in the 'dark'.
All of our lives would not be as good if we did not have these excellent and, in many cases, talented workers to enrich our lives.
Bell bottoms Yes, I too like the bell bottoms! Maybe I should keep the ones I bought last year in the hopes that when they come into fashion again I will not be in a wheel chair!
Looks like the celebration was a lot of fun!
Great experience What an adventure! Thanks for the insight into moving to another country and the language immersion method of learning German :-) Thank goodness for friendly people that help others when they need it. I would be much worse off knowing only a single language (unless you can count pig latin for a language ;-). I would have a lot more touble than you did! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome!! Very well written and I agree 100%. I hope many have the chance to read your blog entry. Why do so many simple not get it? Great job bringing a real issue with emotions to the surface.
Thanks Thanks for sharing a great blog, at the moment we are in the Uk but we do own a place in Didim, Our family is english and non muslim but considering we spend a lot of time in Turkey and hopefully this time will be more and more and with my hubby also being circumcised and keeps saying he will soon be converting to muslim i am not sure if he is or if he is just saying this etc, However we have decided that both of our boys will be circumcised when we come over to Turkey in the next few weeks, plus we were invited by a very close friend to his sons sunnet but we were due back in the uk at the time, we did give him some money though before we left.
what a cutie!! What a cute travel companion. I remember traveling once to Massachusettes by plane with Melanie and Michael. The plane was delayed with us on it due to weather. Both children were tired and cranky!! Now when there are little one making a racket on the plane I am more understanding. I enjoyed your blog and especially the pictures.

WOW Wow Saskia, That is such a great read and so interesting. I feel so close to you reading all your stories. I need to start my own blog. I am glad that everyone is ok...and I am hoping for no Nazar's here today. Mandy can't take anymore falls on her head or we might be in trouble.
I love to read your entries - so well written and amusing!
And: it both gives me an insight into your culture and mine, which is a double bonus. So thanks and keep it up! ;)
German food and Italian restaurants As was observed here quite precise, there is traditional german food and then there's what people eat.
I know nobody who eats mainly heavy traditional german meals. We (ok, I admit it, I'm German) prefer pasta, veggies, Pizza and such stuff.
Why so many Germany smoke? Beats me.
Nice article!

Little correction The Isar does not flow through the English Garden. It's the "Eisbach", and it's a small creek branching from the Isar and rejoining it downstream. "Eisbachsurfer" is a common term in Munich for the people surfing on that single wave. Every few years there a fatal accident happens in that creek, hence the prohibition signs.
a nice story I live more than 20 years , and I fell still until now as tourist.....
I can't explain, why, maybe it's german trick.......
enjoy your days in Germany, a lot surprisings......
You made it in the F.A.Z. Excerpts from your blog have made it to one of the most renowned newspapers in Germany, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (F.A.Z.)! They translated it into German and provide the link to the entries. The article is about the views foreigners currently take while being in Germany. http://www.faz.net/s/Rub47986C2FBFBD461B8A2C1EC681AD639D/Doc~E5B96A91A304A4634B5C1F835120CC603~ATpl~Ecommon~Scontent.html
World cup allegiance... You didn't mention us seeing the Costa Rican team bus on their way to lose against Germany, but I would have to say that that was (and probably will remain) my most exciting World Cup moment so far. I will be cheering on Brazil, because that is the country where my love for (okay, casual interest in) soccer was born. And besides, who doesn't want to root for a team that calls their sport "the beautiful dance?"
Kaan's favourite colour It's simple really, to make the decision.
You let Kaan choose his favourite colour and the team that has the closest colour gets all your backing.
We moved to Europe so that we could experience life here and travel around easily. Our three sons were born here, and these days, most of our pictures are of them! We only planned on staying in Germany for a few years, but it's rapidly becoming HOME.
