Hola Amigos, Hey, before I begin, if you'd like to write me a comment based on what I've written, please feel free to do so. It doesn't go straight to the internet. I can read it and decide whether I want to post it or not. Some loser named Frankie Hejduk wrote me, but I hate him and didn't post the comment. :-) 18 JUNE - Monday • Today was Monday and we left Sevilla nice and early, headed east towards the mountain city of Granada. Frequent readers of my travel updates will no doubt recall that I studied in Granada in July of 2005. You will also remember how much I love it there. Well, we rolled up on the outskirts of town at about 130pm and all I can say is WOW! They've ... read more

Hola, 16 JUNE - Saturday • Well, bright and early Saturday morning, we all awoke, ate the questionable hotel breakfast, loaded the bus and made for Atocha train station, where were going to take the AVE, Spain's high-speed train, to Córdoba. I'm a big fan of trains and I'm also a big fan of going fast, so I was excited. Not as excited as I'd have been if I'd gotten more than 5 hours of sleep the night before, but still, excited. The AVE hums along at about 200 miles per hour and we completed what would have been a five-hour bus ride in about 1:45. It was cool; I'd try to look out the window and focus on items and it was impossible to do if they were close to the train. The farther ... read more

Hola otra vez, 14 JUNE - Thursday • The bus ride to Madrid was split up by a stop in Zaragoza, Spain's fifth-largest city. It's probably best-known for its cathedral, which we visited. It was a really enormous cathedral, constructed thanks to the riches brought back from the Americas, but the Plaza that lines its south side is no doubt one of the biggest I've ever seen, if not the longest. After the visit, we had lunch, which was... an adventure. Our waitress had issues with counting the number of different dishes we ordered, and as a result one of the girls didn't each her entire meal. Many restaurants offer you a full meal for one price - that'd include one plate (soup, salad or maybe some pasta), a second plate (fish/meat and potatoes) a ... read more

Hola Finally! Sorry for the incommunicado since I left. I'm sure the anticipation to know how things are going over here was just killing all of you. Well, it's been a good trip. I have lots to report, so here's the story... 11 & 12 JUNE - Monday & Tuesday • We left for Spain in three groups. Group 1 was small - two chaperones (me being one of them) and one student. Group 2 was a student who flew over by herself. Group 3 was the other 23 people, including our group leader. The three of us flew from the CLE to the ATL and then straight in to Barcelona. No real issues, other than a 1.5 hour wait on the runway in ATL because we couldn't go to our gate, and in Barcelona we ... read more

Travel plans - set. Itineraries - printed. Travel-sized toiletries - purchased. Euros - bought. iPod batteries - charged. Passport - found. Suitcase - definitely NOT packed. So many things to remember to do before leaving on a trip like this one... luckily, Spain is a very modern country, so any material items that I forget can be purchased. It's interesting that this will be my first time traveling to Spain on my own - I mean, after the kids leave on the 20th, I'll be flying solo. I love being in the group setting because decisions have already been made - all you have to do is show up. For the seven days after the kids leave, I'm on my own. I'll definitely go back to Barcelona (22 to 24 June) and then head down to ... read more

Kev's 2007 Spain Trip Readers, The moment you have most feared (secretly desired?) has finally arrived. I, Kevin Daniel Zerbey, have a blog. It was really only a matter of time, wasn't it? I decided that my now-famous travelogues that I have been sending you from my various trips around the world needed a bigger forum. Plus, it made sense that putting them on the web would make them more convenient for you. There'll be no e-mails for you to accidentally delete or photos (soon to be an addition to the updates) to clog up your storage. Now the only thing you'll need is a web browser. And who doesn't have one of those??? This IS 2007, after all. This summer, you can expect to read all about my travels to: Spain with and without a ... read more
