Well, I just spent the day traveling from Boston to here. What a day! Last night I got about ... three hours of sleep and then got up at 5:30am to pack. For whatever reason I was awake but my stomach was feeling VERY strange. I thought maybe I would get to see one of my friends again before I left but unfortunately he wasn't able to see me. After leaving a little late for the airport (the first sign of a bad day) I had to drop off some Blockbuster movies and get some money from the ATM before I was dropped off (by the taxi) at the terminal. And before I discovered that it was the wrong terminal. For whatever reason US Airways and United Airways are in two completely different terminals at Boston ... read more

As I leave Boston I realize just how much culture shock I experienced here. Within my own country. For those of you who have never left the country (or those of you who have never traveled around your own country) it's definitely quite a revelation. When I first arrived in Boston I knew no one. I tried the usual stunts that we Southerners use to get to know people (nodding to people on the bus, randomly saying hello, sitting and examining someone's book while they read, asking questions) but as I soon discovered these people did not want to talk. Hey everybody! I just talked to a good friend from Denison and realized that I truly can't go back to Denison this year. (Took me a whole summer after I graduated to figure that out.) I must say that it is definitely a strange feeling and wakes me up to how life is going to be now that I'm done with school. As many of you know I will be traveling back to good ole Chapel Hill on Tuesday and then to China on Friday. I decided that this was (whether I like it or not) probably the best way for everyone to try and stay in touch with me.
