So .... my tickets have been booked :) I have a one-way ticket out of DC to LA on December 31 (so I can spend new years and a few days with some old college friends I haven't seen in ages) and a one-way ticket to Bangkok on January 4th. Hence the countdown clock that's been added to my profile. Oh and those are non-refundable tickets. So unless I forfeit the albeit not so gigantic amount I spent on the tickets (turns out you save so much money when you book months and months in advance), I'm leaving DC in approximately 190 days ... and for good. As I mentioned in my first blog, my parents are in town to visit and so they got to find out all about how their daughter was planning on quiting a perfectly good, albeit young, career to go travel the world (or just SE Asia) by herself for 6 months - all before moving back home to figure out her life. Thankfully, they don't seem to think it's such a bad idea - but then again they do have about 7 months to give it some more thought and realize that it all sounds pretty darn crazy. Vacationing in the Bahamas = mid-twenties crisis

I recently spent 2 weeks doing absolutely nothing besides laying on the beach on San Salvador island in the Bahamas, occasionally putting on a mask and a tuba and pretending I was snorkelling, and drinking excessively at local bars. In my book, that's a successful vacation. And I got back to DC, sat in my office and realized my life is lacking a certain je ne sais quoi. After some nostalgic Facebook stalking and realizing that everyone seems to be traveling the world expect for me, I decided it was time to get out here. So here's the plan- come January 2012, I will proceed to quit my job, sell all my crap (expect the stuff that I'm sending home to France ... see below) and go travelling for about 6 months.
