Hi there everybody!!
So Julian and Sarah are to set sail for South East Asia on January 10th from Heathrow. Hope you enjoy reading our blog entries.
Take care, speak to you all soon. xxx
Hello all After leaving Kho Phangan we had to do a visa run to Malaysia which gave us another 15 days in Thailand. On returning from Kun Don (border of Thailand and Malaysia) we caught a bus to Krabi where we stayed for the night, a perfect stop over as it had a food market and lots of cheap hostels. The following morning we took a 45 minute long tail boat to Railey beach, although it's mainland Thailand there are no roads to get there which meant no motorbikes or cars when we arrived. Bonus!! Off the boat, we found a cheap place to stay as everywhere had reduced it's prices as it was low season!! Woo hoo!! There were troops of monkeys everywhere in Railey and I made the mistake of feeding one outside of

When we arrived we thought we could extend our visa for the rest of the time we would be spending in Thailand. We were gutted to find out that you were only granted fifteen days when crosssing by land and therefore, we would have to make two visas runs to stay in Thailand for 5 weeks. After the hiccup we jumped on a tube to Bangkok train station hoping to catch a night train to Chumphon to then catch a ferry. We were told that the train was full so another night bus it was!! We arrived at the ferry port at 4am, the bus driver

We were okay and arrived safely after having slept the majority of it. The town was small and it didn't take long for us to find accommodation. After dumping our bags, we headed straight out and came across a row of bars playing nothing but re-runs of TV shows, namely, 'Friends' 'South Park' and 'Family Guy. We sat down and watched some South Park whilst we ordered and ate food. Later on, we found another bar and after ordering a drink we were offered some river weed as a salty dry snack. We couldn't resist especially after seeing a lady fishing for it during our

We set off on a bumpy and dusty road in the back of a van with two other men (Tony from Switzerland and Migon from Argintina). We also had two local guides, Nick and Tim. Two hours later we arrived at the start of our adventure! We were told to carry as much water as we could as it had to last us two days as the village we were staying in didn't have any drinking water. We squeezed as much as we could (10 litres between us) into our small rucksacks and headed off

We had a brilliant two weeks before the festival, some of the time spent on a road trip which we will post a blog for soon. The water festival was absolutely crazy. I felt a bit nervous at first, but it wasn't long before the mask was down and I was squirting innocent people in the face! Before the festival we did another cooking course, which involved eating to the point of bursting!! A great day!! We also went to a Muai Thai boxing night. There were 8 fights in total, both men and women and a special fight which definately was special! 6 blindfolded men entered the ring and they had to fight eachother. Quite a few

So we headed off with our guide book, a car full of goodies and a rough route planned. Our first stop was a small town named Pai. This was a 4 hour journey with a few sightseeing stops on the way. The weather was good, the roads were empty and we saw a few funny travellers on route. We took our time taking in the lovely scenerary stopping along the way which was the main reason we hired a car rather than taking the bus as you often miss some of the best bits when travelling by bus. Once we got to the mountains we couldnt believe how winding the

We crossed the border into Cambodia from Vietnam and headed to Sinoukville. Sinoukville is a beach party town, very busy with tourists. We struggled to find accomodation as it was so busy and everywhere seemed really expensive due to it being peak season. All of the guesthouses were full so we were forced to stay in a hotel complete with swimming pool.. We bumped into Cat, a girl we met in Vietnam 3 weeks previous and spent the following few days chilling out, eating, drinking and more realxing. Generally not doing a great deal :0) After all that down time we caught a bus to Phnom Penn where we stayed with a friend

We were in Hoi an for 4 nights and we spent the days either hanging out with Jamie and Nat or hiring bicycles and peddling down to the beach. First beach we'd seen since the Phillipines so we took full advantage of it. One of our days was spent taking a Vietnamise cooking course where we had the chance of preparing and cooking 5 dishes, our favourites being chicken with lemongrass and chilli and stuffed squid. I took on the Keith Flyod style of cooking and got stuck into the 8p beer the whole afternoon. We had a great day. Hoi an is famous for

We were really not prepared for that type of weather after having spent the last 7 weeks in vests and shorts! Locals were dressed for winter so we layered up what clothes we had and went exploring. First impressions were good although the traffic was mental. Trying to cross the road was difficult to say the least, there are not many cars to look out for but instead millions of motorbikes. Our taxi driver said on the way to dropping us in Hanoi, that the city has a population of 5 million and the same numner of motorbikes! We found a B&B in the Old Quater of Hanoi, the room

First destination was Bohol which involved us taking a 3 hour boat which was absolutley fine this time round, no episodes of us being sick hand in hand in the toilet! In Bohol we visited the famous Chocolate Hills via buses and Jeepneys. There are at least 1,260 hills but there may be as much as 1,776 hills spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometres (20 sq mi). They are covered in green grass that turns brown during the dry season, hence the name. Thanks Wikipedia... Sarah and I really enjoyed viewing the hills although it probably would have been a lot prettier had the sun been shining. The best
