Parati (or Paraty) is a small colonial town about 125 miles from Rio de Janeiro along Brazil's southeast coast. It is a popular destination for Brazilians to vacation. There is a historical center (Old Town) that is closed off to cars that is very charming with cobblestoned-paved streets and colonial buildings that now houses many art galleries, restaurants and shops. Definitely very relaxing. ... read more

It has been a week since I arrived in Buenos Aires. First impressions have been very positive. In short, the best way to describe this place is to imagine NYC or Paris. Like these other great cities, Buenos Aires is vibrant and has something to offer everyone. I came in on a Sunday and stayed in the MicroCenter (Downtown area). I got sick during my stay here so I probably wasn't able to enjoy the trip as much as I'd like. Nonetheless, it was a culturally enriching trip. Well worth a visit. ... read more

Things to Do Walk along Embarcadero from Ferry Building to Fisherman's Wharf Great view of the Bay and the bridge. If you get hungry there is tons of great food at the Ferry Building (Slanted Door for Vietnamese, Hog Island for Oysters, Golden Gate Meat for Pastrami sandwich, Cowgirl Creamery for chinese, Miette for cupcake/lemon tart, Scharffen Berger for chocolates .... or at Fisherman's Wharf (a cup of chowder or Dungeness crab or Ghirardelli Chocolate) Visit a museum. There is the MOMA in downtown SF, DeYoung in the Golden Gate Park, Legion of Honor in the Presidio. All great places to simulate the mind and spend a wonderful afternoon. BTW, they all have good cafes for a light lunch Spend two or three days in wine country. Visit either Napa or Sonoma. Great food and great ... read more
