Just logged onto the site for a while, as I've only got under 2 weeks of the rest of my trip I'll probably be looking to replace my normally hilarious entries with photos (thats the pull anyway!) from Australia, New Zealand and the States. Though not on this lousy computer which wont let me do it.
Fran - you really should be on facebook, get on there before Ged inevitably does so he has the embarassment of his Mum getting there first. So I leave and you put a bed in??!! Where's the justice?! I do miss Manly but the Californian coast is taking the edge off right now.
Fing - I'm looking forward more than ever to returning to the british rail system, I shall soon be reunited with the exciting unpredictability of the delays, it helps me sleep at night. That 50" plasma will be my new best friend, I think I'll stay away from Dad's travel programmes though....
Hey Jim,
I couldn't do the face book thing. how was NZ? Do you miss Manly (and me shouting at the kids.......and to top it all off, we've just bought a nice bed for your room which you won't get the benefit of.......). When are you going to do the Sydney chronicles?
Enzo points up to any aeroplane going past - he thinks you're on it/them!
update Glad to see your getting back upto date on the blog. Just to let you know, I changed my train to the earlier 6:33 from the 6:39, as the markets are choppy and "hey what the hell" I just fancied a change.
West Ham have started the season in their usual crap fashion, and our new signings of Dyer, Faubert, Ljungberg and Parker are all injured.
Also on a football note, will be going to the new Wembley to watch either Eng vs Isreal or Eng vs Russia.....so London still has some highlights !!
PS Dad just bought a 50" Pioneer Plasma and I've paid for him to get Sky HD....It should be all set up by the time you get home.
update/west ham Hi Jim, 10th April "there should be a blog update next week".....nuff said
Also, what do you think for West Ham's chances....if we're getting stuffed at half time (not out of the question), then Warnock's boys could lose to Wigan, which would cause us to go down......the conspiracy theory starts here.
PS have you hooked up with Kate yet ?
there should be a blog update next week. Mind you, there should have been one last week. Up the coast in Byron Bay at the moment and did some surfing this morning, I'm a natural apparently ('natural' is surfer's speak for right footed).
Get blogging Jim, its now April and the last entry is for New Years Eve. Andrew and I want to know what you did in Tokyo except getting home at 7am to play cars with Charlie and Joey.
Hi Bern, I certainly do remember the ear incident in the U.S. Worked perfectly, if only I'd had some in thailand!
Boiled eggs in a bowl?! I've had to put up with that a couple of times myself and I just cant understand it. Thanks for the tip though, I'll be bringing my own egg cups to the states (maybe a couple extra for Uncle James too, at black market prices of course.....)
Hi Fing, thanks, I may send her an email once I've got the hang of curbing my spending - learning some vital lessons here. Of course I'm meeting up with people on a friendly basis as I'm a taken man these days (the mass female suicides start here)....
Eggs James, just a quick comment...Uncle James travels all over the U.S. (as in Trucker)but one of the things he wants when he visits me is dipper eggs and soldiers.'Cos in restaurents overhere they will serve the eggs in a bowl??? I swear not an egg cup to be seen!!!!!
Ear infection James, I have one thing to say "silly putty" Of course it didn't work as the shower must have been too hot!!!! but you did get out of going to Mass.......HaHa do you remember?
Sydney contact Hi Jim, just got an E-mail from a friend of mine, who's in Sydney. Her name's Kate Telford, she's been out there for 3 years+, she's from Essex and she's cute. Also sadly she has just broken up with her boyfriend......I mentioned that you would be in town and she said that she'd be happy to show you the ropes. Liam met up with her when he was out there. Her E-mail is Kate Telford [katetelford@hotmail.com].
the zip lining was pretty quick, quicker than it looked on video anyway. I have taken some pictures of australia that I'll email you later so you can look where you'll be living. I'll have to get those surfing lessons so I can show off when you arrive. Erm, lessons? No I mean I'm a natural......
How quick did you fly through the air? (from ged re zip lining)
Can you take some pictures of Australia? (from Bill and I swear there was no prompting from me)
Billy liked the one with the tiger best.
Ged liked the elephant
See you in sydney Uncle Jimmy C!
and don't go expecting any 55inch screen tv's at my house Jimbo. We'll use Ged's telescope and watch the neighbours instead. About to be the old woman who lived in the shoe.........
I bet your commute to work is better than Andrew's...
thanks for the money offer but I didnt really lose much in koh phagnan, just my debit card. Even getting the scooter repaired with a new key cost next to nothing. You cant beat thailand prices.
55" TV? I'll be able to get an even better replay of all the spectacular goals I score against you. I dont even have a tv now, so I have to settle for a bit of high definition reading I suppose......
I've started work now so I'm now jealous of my former self, but cant complain, Sydney's great, even if there is a ridiculous amount of english here. Once the money's saved I'll do the second leg of my trip in maybe 4 months. The foot has now fully recovered with some cool little scars that I can maybe pass off as a shark attack story..... A very small shark attack....
yes there has been romances but none that I should promote to world fame on my blog. They know who they are and they read the blog so I have to be extra careful here!
stolen cash underwriting Jim, as promised I will underwrite any stolen money, so send me your details and I will wire you over some cash to replace your lost monies from your full moon party.
Also FYI get a 55inch Sony HD TV tomorrow, to go with my (Jap import) PS3 and Sky HD is ordered, so not all that bad in Essex.
When/if you get back I whoop your arse at the latest Evo game.
opps Hi Jim, was at Fran's leaving drinks and everyone was talking about your blog, I must admit I read the first one and assumed that the initial enthuiasm would run out and, well that would be that.
I'm impressed by both your journal's and your adventures and feel a little (a lot) jealous. In my 19.5 years at ML I've not experienced any zip lines, but have met the odd bear and sat next to a few tigers.
Since you've been gone, I have been getting the 06:39 Shenfield to Liverpool Street, Mon-Fri, and we had a nice Xmas with Natasha and Jonny. So now you are upto date with all my developments.
Hope your foot is better and want to know when are you gonna start mentioning any romantic situations ?
Hi Fran, yes I did have the 'if it wasnt for bad luck....' feeling in Koh Pha Ngan, but it was a fantastic place for all that stuff to happen. Yes it was the tune from the rainbow kids tune, I dont think they knew it in the doctors surgery. The tokyo and sydney (just got here) entry will come as I update everything.....
Hi Bern, we did think about singing west ham's 'I'm forever blowing bubbles' but wondered if news of west ham's terrible season might have already made it to that village. The one toilet break in 6 hours wasnt as hard as it sounds, once you get the strategic drinking just right. Maybe a cap full an hour!
