Hola! First off, I would like to apologize for the lack of blogging. the past 2 days there has been no internet at all in the entire hotel, and i haven“t been able to get on once! also, i am going to apologize in advance for the lack of capitalization and punctuation that i am going to use. This is a spanish keyboard and the shift key is way off and i dont feel like spending an extra 30 minutes typing this trying to find the shift every time. moving on... the night at the ice bar was so much fun. it was awesome! the entire bar was made of ice. the stools, couches, bar, cups. everything! i had a blast! they give you big silver puffy coats and gloves, it was for sure worth the ... read more

Hola! Picking up from where I left off... The Stock Market Bar, Bar Dow Jones, was awesome!! Easily my favorite bar of the trip thus far. It was cool watching it go up and down (they had a ticker up on the wall with all sorts of beers, drinks, shots, etc. running alone). About every 30 minutes or so, the stock market would crash and all the drinks would go down! Unfortunately, this was still an expensive price, but it was an experience nonetheless. We had a decent group of about 15 go, it was the most like an American bar, where you could just sit down, have a beer and talk with who you were with. Yesterday we had class during the day, then went to Olympic Stadium again with everyone who didn't go the ... read more

So I didn't think yesterday in itself was enough to write about so I waited until today! We toured the Port de Barcelona which handles the majority of European trading, and serves to many major cruise ships. We got to take a boat ride around the port. While that sounds exciting, that's the extent of it that I have to write about! It was neat to see how much major trading is done, and they are in the process of an expansion, so I was able to see the project in work. Also, the boat ride was pretty cool as well! After a short siesta yesterday, we all decided to go out to Club Nasty Mondays. We had heard great things about it from people who went in the past, so we were all excited to ... read more

Montserrat. A city literally built into the side of a mountain. It was amazing. After about an hour long subway ride, we got to the cable cars that took us all the way up the mountain. This was unreal, and I was freaking out. You could see the cable car station then were they were heading, but you couldn't see where it ended, it just kept going up the mountain. So after freaking out for a bit, we finally got to the top. Once there we got to walk around the little city for awhile, which was really cool. We then went into the Santa Maria de Montserrat Basilica. This place was unbelievable, and had one of the few Black Madonna Holy Images left, which I was able to touch. After that, I bought and lit ... read more

It seems like everywhere I explore there are more and more of the most amazing sights I have ever seen in my entire life. This is the coolest city ever. This morning we went out to Torres Winery. This is the biggest winery in all of Barcelona. They have a plant here, in California, and Chile!! Who would have thought! We took the hour bus ride there, and first got to watch a video. It was interesting and talked about the founder and all that jazz. It showed us how they make the wine and what not. Then we got into this long short trolly looking thing that drove us through the vineyard. We got to see the vines, the casks where they hold all the wine, the fermenting tubs, and the thousands of bottles of ... read more

What a loonnnnggg day. I will start with last night. last night we decided to go to the discoteca (club)! That was sure an experience. We did, however, meet a couple other American groups and one Australian group. It was nice to hear some English being spoken for a change. We stayed at the discoteca (I have attached a picture of the place) until 4 AM! I couldn't believe how late it was! When we left my ears were ringing so loud that I could barely sleep at all through the night. I had a blast, though. Today, we went and visited Sagrada de Familia. Wow, pictures don't do that place justice. It is awesome, and huge! We got a tour through tape player and got to study some details on the building. That was one ... read more

January 4th 2012

Well today was the most boring day I have had in awhile. We went to Punto Blanco, a fashion design company in Barcelona, which sounded awesome. Once we got there, however, we found out that all they make is socks, and we were heading to the factory to watch socks being made. It was extremely interesting, for about 10 minutes of the 5 hours we were there. It was cool watching the socks get made, but then we had a 2 hour lecture in a small hot room with 32 people in it about how they are a failing company, and need to figure something out in the next few years. They are a company that survives on socks alone, which they charge 10E a pair for... and he is wondering why they are struggling in ... read more

January 3rd 2012

Ahh first day of class. We met in the lobby today for breakfast at 7:30, then headed to IQS University for class. We made the 20 minute walk to the school, and sat down in a very old building. Our teacher for the day was very funny and helpful, as he talked about Corporate Social Responsibility, and the importance of moral responsibility within companies. He told us a story about how Spain's largest producer of milk decided to stop using cows from Catalonia because they were believed to be of lower quality. Because of this, his grandma stopped buying milk from that company, just because they stopped using the Catalonian cows. The company's revenues dropped 15% as a result, and they were forced to start using those cows again. This shows how much pride these people ... read more

January 2nd 2012

Hola! Picking up from before, that was the most intense siesta I've ever taken. Dave and I slept for about 3.5 horas, which was more than anyone else in the group. Once we were up, we felt fine though. We had a group of 14 that started the night out drinking our 2EU wine from the market before going out to dinner. We left for dinner around 9:15, which is about 4 hours later than I usually eat, strange! We weren't quite sure what to do for the first night (we made up about half of the full group of 30, everyone splits off for the nights). We decided to go back to La Rambla to get dinner then to go to a club (Nasty Mondays) which we were all told to go to. After searching ... read more
