Argentine's response 16th April 2006 6:45PM...I am from Alta Gracia, Argentina. I must say that I find it strange to hear my country referred to as a "3rd world country". I completely acknowledge that Argentina is rather impoverished since Peron a few decades ago. So I would say a 2nd world country at best and at the moment. Argentines are very proud and resilient people and will bounce back.....in due time. I wish you could have been in Buenos Aires and smaller provinces that flurished about 50 years ago.
Great Jessie, Nick both of you are having grat, amazing, wonderful journey...Enjoy it and have fun...Merry Christmas and all the best and further more for the new year
Love

Meep! Merry Christmas sweetie! Looking forward to joining you in NZ. Will see you on the 6th in Auckland airport probably. Your trek in Argentina looks wicked - what fantastic snowy scenes. Hugs, Rachel
I know what they are Your photos are really great. Really envious about your travel... you are giving me the right idea for my next travel...i will make treasure of your precious suggestions.
About the "ball court" i know what they are : they clearly represent fossil fecis of very old huge sheeps...don't you think? You see what kind of witty discovery i am able to turn out while i am on call in the Hospital...Poor patients
Ciao PG
Hot on your heels Really can't wait to catch up with you again although I wish I was able to chat before I leave for South America and check where all the best spots are. Nevermind, will content myslf with reading your blog and we can compare notes afterwards. Really wish I spoke some Spanish though. Went salsa dancing last night and had to speak Korean to the Peruvian guy I danced with to make myself understood! Have fun moose. The rainbow round the sun pic was amazing.
stunned maybe your vision had been happened after the strange party with fancy dresses? Did you smoke anything alluginogenic?! Not sure this is the right term!!! I know that over there you should find peyote a sort of cactus with funny effect on mind. Have you already tasted it ? If not could you try and refer your feeling, please? this is just to make the blog more real...so i will feel as i were with you in south america instead of the boring Hospital...ciao
Despite a slight fear of heights (remember the Pont Du Normandie) I'm definitely envious and we're both trying to picture you soaring over the Argentinian landscape! AND you've seen a Brook Inspector (sorry, don't speak German)! That's the first time we've even seen a picture of one.
Keep the great news coming. LOL XXXXX
It is so lovely to be able to see where you've been and hear what you've been up to. It sounds amazing and like you're really enjoying yourselves.
Take care and keep those photos coming!
Oktoberfest and chocolate! How odd that it is so German, but glad to hear that you got some good chocolate! I'll save you a xmas selection box!
Baby condors too - so cool.
Take care, honey.

I thought travellers were meant to live from hand to mouth surviving on experience alone! Tee hee. You sound like you're having an amazing time. Take care. Lou x
Thought you might like this story. The curious case of the sexist seagulls is disrupting the mail in a quiet Somerset village. Gulls are divebombing postmen but, to the bemusement of bird experts, appear to be content to let female posties past.
After one man was knocked off his bicycle and another left sprawled in the road, a women-only team was drafted in to ensure the mail got through in Highbridge, near Burnham-on-Sea.
The aerial onslaught began after the gulls' chicks were born. The gulls seemed to fear the postmen were endangering their young and began swooping from the rooftops.
Residents were warned to expect delays to deliveries as the postmen dodged the gulls.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: "It might sound funny but if you have a 2kg seagull divebombing you, it is a big problem. It is a real health and safety risk to our employees. We've had two guys who have been knocked off their feet, but when women go up there, we don't have any trouble."
The chicks hatch in late May and their parents tend to become increasingly aggressive towards late July and early August when they leave the nest for the first time.
But Peter Exley, of the RSPB, admits to being baffled by the sexist nature of the attacks.
He said: "We've heard of birds attacking people before but this is a new one on me - there is no reason why they would deem men more of a threat. Their sense of smell isn't good so it is difficult to imagine how they are telling the difference. Seagulls have attacked women in the past, so it must be a particular problem this group has with men."
Fun in the sun! Hey honey
Glad you arrived safely and are finding it interesting. It is great to read about these far away exciting places. It's grey and wet here so you are in the right place! I'm very envious!
Take care. Much love, Jo

Send lots of love to Maria It is lovely to get your diary updates, although it seems very strange to be sitting in the middle of the Dorset countrtyside thinking about you galivanting around Montevideo.
Please tell Maria her handbag is much admired in Dorset (although I think they think it has fallen in a cowpat!)
Take care but have very good fun - and do keep up the diary. It is really nice to get the updates.
Lots of love
Emily
Hello! Great to hear that you landed ok and are enjoying it so much - I loved BA so much and I agree it is abit like Madrid! I've just found out that the Polo Championships that I went to are on in November - and there's a British team playing so try and get a ticket - it's worth it to see all the beautiful of BA strutting their stuff! Glad to hear you're enjoying the steaks -the best in the world! Lots of love Caroline xox
So, I'm finally off on a mini round-the-world trip! For some reason, Argentina and Chile have always appealed, so they are the places to which I'm dedicating the most time. I'll then carry on round to New Zealand with a couple of stop-overs in Sydney and Singapore on the way back. See you back in the UK in February!... full info
