We have arrived! Our flights were happily uneventful and most enjoyable thanks to first class and business class accommodations provided by Oceania Cruise lines. A driver was waiting for us at 1:45 a.m. and took us to our most beautiful hotel Pan Pacific which is close to all that Singapore has to offer and which we shall enjoy for the next four days. We are wide awake as Singapore is 12 hours ahead of New York so we will stay the course until tonight and try to get on track time wise.... read more

So sorry to have not updated recently. We received the news December 23 that the World Cruise would not take place but that we could continue starting March 22 in Singapore. We decided to take that option instead of canceling the whole thing. Some of our fellow travelers did and booked for next year. Dear Valued Guests and Travel Professionals, As you may be aware, on December 11th we experienced a tragic incident aboard Insignia while docked in St. Lucia. We currently have a technical team on board the vessel working with the ship’s officers and authorities to assess the situation. Once the authorities have completed their work, we expect Insignia to enter dry dock and undergo necessary repairs. We are in the process of evaluating how long those repairs will take to complete and whether there will be any effect to scheduled January sailings, including the start of the Around the World cruise. We will have a better assessment on when the vessel will re-enter service by the middle of next week. We expect to have an update for you at that time. Sincerely, Crane Gladding Senior Vice President, ... read more

Our excitement for our trip has been dulled by the news that our ship, Oceania’s Insignia, had a fire in their engine room which caused the death of 3 crew people on December 11th. This in turn caused the cancelation of the current cruise and another one scheduled before ours. Of course, the priority is for the families of the deceased and the return home of the passengers who had to be evacuated. We just don’t know at this point what our status is in relation to the planned cruise. We will wait and see…... read more
