Ciao tutti! I’m sorry I suck at life, I know I haven’t written FOREVER! Life has been craazy, traveling all around and working on all of my end-of-the-semester schoolwork (not to mention trying to figure out how I’m going to pack up all of my things and everything I’ve bought here and move it across the ocean by myself… but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it). But I’ll try to give you some condensed updates. The weekend after Tuscany we went to Bologna for a couple days, kicking it off with a cooking class paid for by my [View Full Entry]

Tuscany! Europe » Italy » Tuscany
Ciao tutti! Sorry for the hiatus, I've been out and about being a world traveler, you know how it is. haha. But now you get to hear about my amazing weekend in Tuscany! Saturday morning we left for a program-wide field trip to Tuscany, starting in Siena. After a 4.5 hour bus ride, we got a full tour of Siena and saw all the sights of the very medieval town. The highlight was the sunset over the Tuscan hills, because Siena is on a hill. That was just the beginning of the many beautiful landscapes we would see that weekend. After [View Full Entry]

Ciao! I figured the theme of this entry would be the realization that, somehow, my semester abroad is almost over. Like, 47 days from now I will be getting on a plane and going home. Don't get me wrong, it's going to be amazing to be home, but it seems like I haven't done everything that I wanted to do here! So this weekend I decided to take day trips to places nearby that I had wanted to see but never had free time to make the trip. Saturday I went to Lake Como with Alex, Michelle, Katie, Katie's mom and [View Full Entry]

Hey everyone! Sorry this post is so late, I just finished midterms here so this week has been crazy with all the studying, etc. But here's the dish about my latest weekend trip - Madrid! I went with my friend Alex, who goes to Tufts and met a girl in last year's Tufts summer program who was studying English there for the summer. She were born and raised (and still lives) in the city of Madrid, so she was an amazing tour guide! We flew into Madrid on Thursday night and checked into our hostel, which was the first floor of [View Full Entry]

Ciao tutti! I’m back in classes after a wonderful weekend visiting Christie in Florence. It was not without its fiascos, as you will see, but it was totally worth it! I took a 4:00 train on Friday, arriving in Florence at 7 pm because Christie and her program had a field trip and would not be coming home until late. So I got up to the villa around 7:30 and got a quick tour… and could not believe my eyes. The Georgetown villa is in Fiesole, a small town next to Florence, on a hill overlooking the whole city. The villa [View Full Entry]

Today is a very sad day… it’s the day my parents left to return to the US. But it’s okay because we had a wonderful week! They arrived on Thursday morning, which was lucky because the only class I have on Thursdays is 9-11 am. So after class I came back home, cleaned up my apartment a little bit, and waited for my parents to call to say they got in. And waited. And waited. Finally, about an hour after they should have gotten in, I was starting to get worried, so I called my mom’s cell phone. She picked up [View Full Entry]

Ciao! So this weekend we actually stayed in Milan for once, because I had one of my best friends from Georgetown coming to visit me (Christie), Katie and Michelle had 3 friends from school coming to visit them, and Steph had one friend from school visiting her. So we stayed in the city to show them a good time. Friday I picked Christie up at the train station and we went to do a little sightseeing in Piazza del Duomo (and La Scala, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, etc.) and then came home for a little nap after all that walking. Then we [View Full Entry]

Oktoberfest!  Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Munich
Yes, I survived! I'm back in Milan after an absolutely ridiculous weekend in Munich, Germany for Oktoberfest. Mamma mia I don't even know where to start. I guess I'll start from the beginning... We had been trying to figure out plans for Oktoberfest for a while, but hotels and hostels had been booked for months and months in advance. So with the knowledge that Michelle's friend from Villanova has a hostel night for Friday night that she said we could just pile into, we decided to book train tickets. We bought our ticket there for Friday afternoon at 3, but after [View Full Entry]

Rimini Europe » Italy » Emilia-Romagna » Rimini
Ciao tutti! I have some fabulous updates about last weekend, which was spent in Rimini. Rimini is a town on the eastern coast of Italy, in the region Emilia Romagna (known for its cheese and its capital, Bologna). Rimini is a beach town on the Adriatic Sea, so it was kind of cool to be able to say that I swam in both the Mediterranean Sea and the Adriatic Sea within a week. Rimini is supposedly a really happening town for nightlife and clubbing, but even though it was 80 degrees and sunny it was still off-season and therefore most of [View Full Entry]

Monaco / Monte Carlo Europe » Monaco » Monte Carlo
Ciao! I just came back from Monaco for the weekend... oh my god, so breathtakingly beautiful! When we got off the train, we walked through the train station which is carved into the top of a cliff, so we could see a beautiful ocean view right from the train station. That's when we knew it was going to be a good weekend! Our hotel was in a town called Eze village, a quaint little town in between Monaco and Nice. Our hotel was faabulous - we had two apartment-style rooms for 5 girls each (yes there were 10 girls total... madness), [View Full Entry]
