Lake Taupo - Avoiding the perfect stormFollowing our caving adventure, we were warned of an impending weather bomb; the "largest storm" to hit NZ in "10 years". We were excited. Much to our disappointment, we missed the eye and only encountered dreadful rain throughout our 2 hour drive towards Lake Taupo. Lake Taupo is apparently the largest freshwater lake in the southern hemisphere - our plans for sky diving over this lake (we thought it appropriate considering it is also the sky diving capital of NZ) were dashed due to poor weather conditions. Black Water Rafting Adventure!!Jean has wanted to do this for YEARS....having spent 2.5 hours driving south in bottom of the range rattling red toyota with appalling speakers (not what we would call "surround sound" but we're in NZ so hey) and jean asleep and drooling on herself, we finally made it to Waitomo!Highlights: BLACK WATER RAFTING!!
