Hungry Again
Hi Max, I was very surprised to be hungry again the next day after such a big meal. The only thing I regret about vacation is how long it takes to get hungry after eating a meal. So much good food and limited capacity. Jim

Singing in the Rain
Glad to know the rain and funny GPS isn't stopping you! How can you do all the cheese and wine and beer and NOT end up at the fat farm!? Hope you continue to have a lovely time :)

Tour Guides
I am having such a great time looking over your shoulder as you travel! An extended trip to France and then Italy is on our agenda---next year since our travel funds went into studio renovation---so please remember to take down all the hotel, tour guides, tours info as you go along, please? We will be in your debt---and that means you will have to visit and let us wine and dine you!

When in Rome...
The ights, sounds, and food sound so welcoming! Is it true--only bad beer in Rome? Enjoy!
17th May 2014

Not only bad beer
Karyn, we did find some good beer although we had to search for it. In fact, we went to our favorite beer bar (Open Baladin) almost everyday. Lisa doesn't think it is a coincidence but we "stumbled" on it again on our third day even though this was not our original destination. Go figure!

France
Hi Lisa and Jim, Thanks for giving us the preview and reminding me that I need to start in on my French review. Zut Alors! Are we going that soon? It looks like you are having yet another gourmet adventure--it is so tantilizing to view. We noticed in England that there were War Memorials in every little town, it is sad that we do not revere our veterans the way they are remembered in Europe.Keep up the good work, troopers. Maybe you should get a top of the car cheese carrier?

Finding your way
If it's any help, as you approach a new town you should a a sign that says "Centre" or "Centre Ville," which means "town center" that way. Follow that sign and you should end up in the center of town, which is where the local tourist office will be. You are likely to find an English speaker or at least some tourist materials in English there. Also, please note that if you are purchasing gas and/or want to use the bathroom at any of the gas stations, it is considered the height of rudeness not to stop and at least say hello to the proprietor first ("Bonjour, Je voyage à . Puis-je s'il vous plaît utiliser vos toilettes? (Pronounced approximately as "Pwee zhje seel vu play utilizay vo twalette?"

Fine
We found out in Ireland that "fine" meant not raining. It could be a hurricane or snowing, but as long as there was no rain, the weather was "fine." I am noticing that a lot of the local language you have experienced in Australia is the same in England, and occasionally, Ireland. We must be the odd ducks who need to sort it out, eh? Sounds like you are having a real vacation- good for you! Enjoy. Cheers! Max

civil engineering, cheese, and beer... oh my
Hey guys, thanks for the civil engineering tidbits! :) I can appreciate the sidewalk photo earlier and the mention of the rotaries (and no signals - yeah!). Of course the cheese and beer discussions are great too (I made some brie last Saturday and brewed a porter on sunday). Glad to hear ther are no more airports in your future other than the one to get home. Whew! Hey Jim, what do you think of vacations???

Woolworths?
I had no idea there were any left on the planet. They closed here years ago and the properties were sold off. Interesting that in Oz they sell groceries.

Not the same Woolworths?
Jennifer, we are not sure that they are the same as the Woolworths we remember. We have seen them around Oz but they are pretty muc h grocery stores. The one in Adelaide had a second story and a Woolworths Liquors. It has been interesting.
