We created this blog so our friends and family back home can see what we're getting up to in our month in New Zealand. This is the furthest either of us have travelled from home before, and the first time either of us has gone on holiday solely with just a friend for company. Hello again ladies and gents, for what is most likely going to be my last entry on this trip! I'm gonna cover our days in Dunedin in this entry, and for completeness sake Jason will write up our last few days in Christchurch most likely when we're black in Britain... odd, I know. Anyhoo, Dunedin (which is Gaelic for Edinburgh, so as I mentioned in my last entry, it's a Scottish city). We left Queenstown on the 9th, following the usual morning routine, except for my trip to the computer kiosk, as my graduation tickets are on sale and I wanted to get them booked asap (thank you Tammy for the heads up!) We get out of the city around half nine, heading west. Not so many mountains today in our eye line, we mostly followed ... read more

Its been a few days i know since the last post, but we have been stuck with limited time, and the time we do have spare is filled with crap computers that we are pretty sure are on dial up internet. But that is neither here nor there so i will get right on with todays blog. This is Jason again and i have been given the privilege of telling you about our day in Queenstown and the Lord of the Rings tour that we took as well. The day started the same as any other except that we allowed ourselves a bit of a lie in, so at 8 in the morning the alarm goes off and we both get up and dress, munch down some breakfast before taking turns nipping to the shower. Once ... read more

Morning all, Right, where did we leave you? Ah yeah, we've just finished our glacial walk. Well, the night went alright. though I did manage to drop a bowl (we only had to two, forcing me to eat out of a plastic microwavable bowl) and in the middle of the night the alarm fuse randomly started emitting a strange buzzing noise. Maui haven't supplied us with any manufactures information, so I just turn the damn thing off. Had to do that every night. Honestly, this thing is falling apart around us - the lights have their own personality, one only turning on now if we turn of the left gas hob ring. Weird right? Anyway, we were woken by my alarm as Jason's phone just died on him while we were sleeping. He's pretty miffed. We ... read more

Jason: Right. Some of you already know because of various texts, but we are thinking that we may come back a little earlier than planned. Now this in no way has anything to do with lack of money or homesickness or medical conditions OR trouble with any local law enforcements. We are simply arriving in Christchurch several days earlier than planned, and having completed most activities that we set out to do, there isn't much left to fill our time. We will be spending 6 days in Christchurch and i think you will agree that after a couple of days we will be going a little stir crazy just hanging around waiting for the day our flight leaves. So as a compromise we have decided to get in contact with air new zealand and request an ... read more

You are very lucky people, you have the priviledge of hearing about the days antics before i even get chance to right about it in my journal. Right before i begin i would again like to say thanks to all of you who have left messages and comments, keep them coming. Evening all, though god knows what time it'll actually be when you read this, so just accept for the moment that is indeed an evening (it is for us, it's 6.38 here). I'm here to continue the story of our trip in the South Island. Ignoring the shitty computers we had yesterday and Jason's mini rant (to be fair, yesterday afternoon was probably the first time we both lost our cool at the same time on this holiday). Anyway, we were attempting to head to Greymouth, but the weather and damage to the road system was blocking us at every turn. So before we hit Lewis's Pass through the mountains, we stop off at Hanmer Springs, a nice little place I reckon. It's snowing hard, and it's zero degrees outside. As Jason said, I had dug ... read more

Hello everyone, no blog in this entry (we're writing them next) but we're posting this as an entry so you get a message in your inbox's. We've moved onto Franz Joseph and found a decent set of computers, so we now have photo's for "Now this is what we're talking about..." and "Here be Dragons... I mean Whales", the last two blog entries. We also put the order back the right way around :) Enjoy! Elliott... read more

And once again there are a flurry of blogs for you to browse over this fine morning. Elliott and I have driven on now, and are currently in Greymouth South Island. But we are only just about to update our blogs with the happenings on the sunday after we arrived in the south island and the monday where we did Whale watching and then drove to a place called Hammer Springs. Elliott is in charge of the former whereas I have the delightful job of doing the latter. Hope all is well with you all and as always we appreciate any messages and comments left by you. (thank you Deena for your message it meant a lot) I have also broken a habit and gone back on a rant from a previous blog and sent some ... read more

***UPDATE: READ THIS FIRST*** Despite what I say later, this computer wont upload my goddamn photos! I'm miffed! Hopefully once Jason's done his entry I can try again on PC, but I'm not holding my breath. Sorry people, will get them up later I guess... Hello ladies and gents! Well we've not found any internet cafes today (we're in Greymouth at the moment) so having to use the kiosk at the Top Ten park where we are staying, so I apologise now if this is a little subpar to what you are used too... Right, Jason left off with us in Picton having arrived via the ferry. Picton is a small town right at the top of the island, first settled as a whaling post back in the 1800s by the George family (can you tell ... read more

Well hello everyone. Jason here, and i know that once again there is several blogs for you to read. Two proper blogs and one containing all the videos of importance up to this point. Hope you are all well, we are doing great, still feeling the homesickness but we are getting by ok and enjoying it all as much as we can. Well this is it, the day we move from Wellington in the North island to Picton in the South island. It has only been two weeks in the North Island but is feels like so much more, what with everything we have done. I am quite exhausted from it all, but not time to rest we still have two weeks in the South Island to go yet. Saturday morning started the same as any ... read more
