from Nouakchott we took a sept place taxi to rosso at the senegalese border, which is a river and involves crossing by pirogue after your passports have been stamped on the Mauritanian side. The border was very chaotic; trying to hold on to our passports at the same time as attempting to find a decent price for a boat across the river in the heat. finally we made it to the other side where we met a senegalese man called Amelou who changed miney for us and invited us back to his house for tea and playing the guitar. Once it had cooled down we made our way to Saint Louis which was much more relaxed and cooler so we stayed there for a few days going around with someone who lives there called Hallifa. Met a german with dreads and a van to give us a 700km lift south into Mauritania. slept in the dessert on the way, dodged camels, and traversed landmine infested terrain. border was a bit of a deal. took 5 hours to cross due to paper work and double checks.. looking at our passports again and again. inbetween mauritania and morocco theres 5 km of no mans land. with no road, local nomades offer to guide you through for 10 euros. if you go solo without their help it can be risky: fake tracks in the sand, with traps just over the hill, once you get stuck sudenly they want 100 euros to pull you out. anyway.. aparently the german knew what he was doing more or less and we made it through by following a ... read more

Dakhla is a boarder town between mauritania and morocco. where everyone stopes on there way south into africa. as well as where ppl have done the african tour heading north. ideas and lessons are passed from one to another over a hot cup of tea in the busy downtown streets. smoke fills ... read more

Alllll righty.. Got the feeling that repeating the same stories takes away from the details. hence an attempt at a travel blogg, hopefully it'll become more professional with time and writing experience. Been traveling for roughly 3 months, with no real plan outside of exploring europe and morocco solo. was going to come home end of june, back to work, back to family, back to day to day... subway -work- sleep -repeat. #$%@ that. skipped the flight, got healed up with family in france. grabed some drugs, and made the commitment to remeet with this irish kid that wanted to travel all of africa, from the north to the south. fortunately he had his passport stolen and waited patietly for a new passport to be sent, and for me to visit the emergency rooms in france. ... read more
