Yup! 1 week to go before flying out! Headed back so I took a trip to the Pacific last week. Spent Haloween and the week after in the Mal Pais area, more up toward Manzanillo....CasaKata...."PARADISE"! Pics will tell all, I hope. OK, so romance in CR is what you make of it. How many time in your life do you meet someone and have a connection? There ya go! Out of 148 pics I stopped with these, will keep adding later. Its Thursday, and I have to leave on Tuesday next, 14th. Promised I'd have T-Day with the family. Got to go back and unload all I´ve learned, put on paper, analyze, calculate, hell you all know what has to be done when considering the possibility of starting over in CR. until next time. ... read more

Forget da Map! After the weather cleared out, it was time to warm up. Woke up to clearer skies and distant thunderstorms on the Pacific. Perfect temps, sun peeking out from behind the clouds, burning off the fog and drying the mud. Time to take a drive! Up the road to LosAngeles Norte and the back way into San Ramon. Hmmm? Which way? Right(dereche)! Amazed by the valleys and ridges and trees and houses....gotta watch the road too!!! Wanted to get to the top of the far ridge, but no road, or 'Ya can't get dar from here!", so I kept going....and going...and going....til the road ended at a river! Nope, too deep for the Geo! There is a beautiful finca down there, in the middle of nowhere. Seems a previous President donated property for a ... read more

Here it is, less than a month left for me to see CR. Yet, I have 'lived' in San Ramon now for a month! As said by those in the know, 'Live there to get the experience'! After rain, fog, clouds, COLD, chill-to-the-bone wet cold, and great mornings, I think I've got San Ramon's "Green Season" understood....then again, I've have been at 3800+feet above sea level, and NOT in the city itself. Found out that the tops of the mountains, where we are, all have a variation to how the weather is. One ridge will have all the fog or clouds, where another will have the winds, while still another will have any and all weather. But, the weather moves in and out so rapidly you just gotta sit it out. I know I will have ... read more

wish you were......wait a minute, every woman down here is so beautiful! I won't show pics you have to see for yourself! My focus gets disrupted when in town, driving or walking, 'its good on the eyes', as told to me recently. So, I have been lax in updates, horrible with the pics, and busy with NOTHING. not really, but gee its mid October! The weather at sundown has dropped, yes it is cooler above 3500 feet. probably COLD higher up the mountains, ya think? IN FACT, a gentleman I met today, said it DOES snow here up the mountain, JUST flurries. But still, just imagine your up high enough in these mountains, thinking it "NEVER" will snow in CR.... UH, what was that tea you're drinking???? The Terios is a rental of Renee, an architect ... read more

This has been great! Being in the mountains is just difficult to get away from. I will be exploring the West coast this week to see what I can see. This past weekend was a side adventure back up to Zarcero and beyond. Out east from there thru Palmira towards Poas and the Chayote reserve. Found a road thru the dairys, and up the mountain, it was PAVED! Heading down between Chayote and Grecia reserves, the switchbacks turned to gravel for about 2 miles. Slow but OK. Then down along the rivers back on asphault, came upon Torro de Carate....not on the map. Great stop for the waterfall. Quaint little place with rooms for the night, restaraunt, and garden path to view the waterfall. It appeared to be about 100ft maybe a tad more....to me anyway. ... read more

Its great to be up in the cooler air! The rain comes and goes along with the clouds, or FOG. To watch the clouds roll in at night makes the surrounding lights disappear, it becomes dead quiet, and VERY brisk! I am waiting for a clear night to take a picture of the 'highway to the sky'.....Yellow street lights off past San Ramon, that seem to lead straight up into the sky.... coming soon, I hope. Here is the new 4x4, stick shift, and all around a better vehicle. NOW I can take day trips ANYwhere. Meeting new folks everyday here, seeing houses for sale, houses being built, learning the ups and downs of all involved. Still just a 'sponge' for information. Keep it comin'! The trees of Zarcero are conifers planted all over and grow ... read more

Sorry for being so late. I am WAY behind! But, I will keep things short. San Ramon from La Fortuna, via private transport. Jorge, a friend of Coco's, drives a Toyota microbus. For 10K colones, I was the only passenger. Jorge is a 20 something artist, that drive a tour bus forr private tours. His claim to fame, Arnold S. aka the 'Terminator'...yeah, has a Polaroid of him and Arnold. Got to San Ramon at a ByB, that's Bed and Breakfast. Fun place to stay. Very NOISY. Can hear couples from anywhere! The cleaning ladies all laugh and giggle. Met some guys from S.C. that will be down here for 3 weeks. All are older than me by 10 yrs and better. Just having a wild and crazy time! Moved up to AVF*Angel Valley Farm as ... read more

'You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy!' Time to change that. The vacation is over. Fun times now yield to longterm consideration. The blog is wide open to readers that may, or may not, appreciate my humor. Yes humor. Opinions and comments expressed do NOT nescessarily reflect those of management! In other words, I, Jake Snow, realize, that people will form an opinion of ME, by what I write. So, I have 'retracted' previous entries, and APOLOGIZE for ANY negative conotations implied. This may be too little, too late. Damage (opinions formed), already done? Cannot change that. Life goes on. Update in the blog will change. I am getting 'back into' my photography... even if it is with a small digital camera. As ... read more
