We departed Chicago at 11:30PM via the Megabus. I was very lubricated for the ride in order to sleep. Immediately upon getting there, i was out. When we arrived in Cleveland; our friend was of course a little late but nothing special. We walked around for a moment and looked at the holiday decorations. We looked at that old church in the town square and then walked over to a hotel to find a restroom. By the time, we got out of the hotel, our friend was there to pick us up. We headed down Broadway street in hopes of finding a restaurant. Soon, we stumbled upon the Broadway Diner which was this hole in the way place but with great food. Definitely great hangover food. From there, we headed to Mill Creek Falls. Mill Creek ... read more

How I Became a Passenger on This Trip Friday night was a dear, dear friends birthday party so I of course attended multiple bars and shenanigans and had a lot to drink. After the birthday girl retired around 2AM, I met up with another dear, dear friend and went to a couple more bars. During this escapade, she informed me that she was going to her hometown Dubuque, Iowa the next day with a couple more friends of ours. She invited me and I immediately accepted. She anticipated that I would go home and get ready; however, I knew that if I went home, I would not be going on this trip so I spent the night and woke up the next morning with nothing but the clothes on my back. Saturday We had gone to ... read more

Sunday, August 1, 2010 I was supposed to meet my friends with the RV in Wixom at 6AM but since I got shwasted the night before at a family reunion, I woke up at 6 and could not drive. Thank goodness my mother was able to come get me so that I could show up drunk and without any toiletries. It was an interesting couple of hours before we arrived in Chicago at 9:45AM to pick up out fourth travel mate. The drive to Sioux City, IA was rather boring but we did get to see the world's largest truck stop. When we got to Sioux City, our hotel was actually very nice. We were pretty hungry so after a quick walk through downtown Sioux City, we ended up eating/drinking at Sweet Fanny's. I got a ... read more

Day 1 We ended up leaving Rogers Park around 6pm on Friday, July 2. We drove a Toyota Rav 4 SUV. I was mortified that we were going to hit a bunch of traffic but honestly once we got out of the city, it was a straight shot. We were working on a lot of adrenaline because we were all very excited for this trip. We just drove and drove and drove. We took I94 through Milwaukee. We arrived at our campsite in Trego, WI about 1am. It was literally at this park right off the freeway. It was an alright campsite except for the people in the site next to us. Apparently my friends slept like babies but I had a more difficult time falling asleep. Day 2 We woke up about 8am and took ... read more

Well I was supposed to leave at like 7:30am or something and arrive in downtown Milwaukee at 10. That didn't happen. I went to International Mister Leather the night before and woke up at 9:30. Immediately after a new train ticket was booked and I would arrive in Milwaukee around noon. I took the Amtrak which ended up being completely reasonable to get there. However, there were a lot of people on the train. Like, a lot. Milwaukee The weather could not be nicer in Milwaukee. It is sunny an beautiful here. I am starving. I end up going to Capriotti's Sandwich Shop. It looks like a mom and pop kind of place but apparently it's a franchise. I ask whether I should get the veggie sub or the veggie cheeseburger. The owner says more people ... read more

Johnson Shut-In State Park This state park was incredibly great a a hot summer day. It is only about a quarter mile from the parking lot to the river. From the parking lot, you walk down a boardwalk to discover the "shut-ins" which were rocks swallows along the bottom of the river. These divets were caused by erosion. My mother, sister and I decided to walk around in the rapids which was very fun but incredibly slippery at times. The water was freezing cold at first but because the weather was so nice, it was easy to get used to. At one point, some unattended child was taken for a ride by the rapids. My father saw this whole escapade and the condition of the man who saved him. This made my father believe that it ... read more

Dogwood Canyon Nature Park We took the 2 hour tram ride all over the park. It was really neat although the tram was filled to capacity which made for a tight squeeze. For the first part of the tour, you drive along the canyon floor. There are waterfalls and even a chapel built from logs within the park by their maintenance staff. Apparently it is a big hit for weddings. The waterfalls were fairly neat. At the glory hole, you could see giant rainbow trout which was neat. Throughout the trip, we would constantly have to drive through the river making the ride even more interesting. My favorite part by far was seeing the animals. img=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3331/4639648062_93b48998... read more

Eureka Springs, Arkansas and surroundings Pea Ridge National Military Park This was another national battlefield full of woods and fields although it did offer some great scenic views. It was another driving loop allowing you to get out at certain points. Mostly the points were where the battles actually occurred. One of the stops was a home that was used as a field hospital for both yankee and confederate soldiers during the war. It was rather neat even though it was also locked. There was one stop that gave you a scenic overview of the entire park. This was fairly picturesque and we saw two turkey buzzards about 40 feet away. I enjoyed the park although if someone were pressed for time, I would suggest elsewhere. ... read more

Depart Chicago, IL 11:55PM on Tuesday, May 18th via Megabus Arrive in St. Louis, MO 6:25AM on Wednesday, May 19th Sit around in the Civic Center MetroLink Station with my computer. I am dehydrated so I get a soda. Depart St. Louis, MO 8:25AM on Wednesday, May 19th via Greyhound I have never taken a Greyhound bus before but it was quite the experience. I was clearly out of my element. For one, I was the only person that had purchased my ticket at home and printed it out. Is it cheaper to buy at the station? Maybe it was the area and/or my destination but I was the only person on the bus who had a full set of teeth. Not to say that people missing teeth are in any way less than but, for ... read more

Kansas City, Missouri for the weekend Depart Chicago @ 11:55pm on Friday, April 9, 2010 Arrive in Kansas City, Missouri @ 6:50am on Saturday, April 10, 2010 City Market The city market was very busy and full of people. Since this was my first time to a city market, I was pleasantly surprised. The vendors has a lot of produce but also homemade crafts, fresh cut flowers, honey and sauces, and some tchotchkes. I also saw the only mullet I would see on this trip (thank goodness) on a woman no doubt. Union Station / Liberty Memorial I jumped on the Kansas City Bus system from the City Market and went to the Kansas City Union Station. Union Station was architecturally beautiful and I ... read more
