There are many things that make up the Mongol culture, one being food. In Cumania, we had some forests and natural resources. In Mongolia, the steppes are empty. The Mongols derive many of the things they have from the animals. Food in Karakorum rarely contains vegetables or any type of plant. Occasionally there are onions or garlic, and sometimes spices from the Silk Road caravans, like ginger and cardamom. Nearly all my diet is meat and dairy products. Both of these foods come from the animals that were herded in the city, as well as hunted. Every day, men venture out with weapons and return with rabbit, boar, fish, and whatever else they find.
