Well it has been a while since the last update, but as no one has chased us (all getting bored now??) we thought we would wait till we had lots to tell. Well we left you just after Ian’s parents left us. After saying goodbye in the airport, we headed south to Central Otago on the work trail. We had already confirmed some work in Queenstown, but had trouble finding reasonably priced accommodation, so found another job on arrival in the area, it was working on vineyards mainly in a small town called Cromwell. We also managed to stay on, one [View Full Entry]

Well it was getting to the point where we thought the only way left was downhill, but it turns out New Zealand still had amazing adventures in store for us! The day after our Queenstown adventure we got on the road for the day, our final destination being Fox Glacier. However in New Zealand, no driving day is ever boring, and some stunning scenery awaited us even in the rain. The first stop of the day was Wanaka, time for the daily coffee and cake break! We also went for a wonder and Agatha found some wonderful lamb at the farmers [View Full Entry]

Well the adventures continues, if not a little more sedately. From Hamner Springs we started to head south over the Canterbury plains. Our first ‘sightseeing stop’ was Lake Tekapo, this is a crystal blue lake with the perfect back drop of snow covered mountains. On the edge of the lake sits the church of the good shepherd, built in memory of the Scottish shepherds who managed to work the harsh land. This church must have one of the most amazing views of all the churches in the world. By this church is also a statue of a collie, is memory of [View Full Entry]

Wow, what a start to the South Island, and even the weather has been with us: Day one of the South Island Well following our crossing over the Cook Strait and through Queen Charlotte Sound we arrived in Picton. First consideration was the fact the wine had run out so it was of to a couple of wineries for the afternoon! We visited Saint Claire Winery first and had a spot of lunch, before a bit of tasting and the purchase of a couple of bottles of wine. We then went to a preserve shop and a chocolate factory/Shop for a [View Full Entry]

Well since our last entry we have spent our last couple of weeks in Wellington, and had a tour of the west coast and met up with Wim, Agatha and Jan (Ian’s parents and uncle) Back to our last couple of weeks in Wellington, we had two more weekends here after our last blog entry. The first one we decided to take it easy, tidy the van and have a good night out in Wellington! We found ourselves a good Chinese and a piano bar in an Irish pub. The piano player was excellent, and did some great guns and roses [View Full Entry]

Well it has been a while, however as it is winter - wet, windy and cold we have not really had much to say! However now spring is just about here! Anyway back to the last entry, after much tooing and throwing and a variety of job offers, interviews, and options, we have found ourselves settled in jobs. Ian is now know as BATman, due to his job on a construction site, as a labourer and insulator(BATS) fitter. I have landed myself a job in a Correspondence College, advising people what courses to do - scarily shaping the lives of some [View Full Entry]

Hello..... well as a few of you keep telling us it has been a while since we updated our blog so here is the update! Our last entry finished with us going to work in a Feijoa orchard pruning the trees. On the Monday we moved into our new home - an old packhouse/ big shed! We parked up our van inside, plugged in and settled into our living quaters - a nice sofa, toilet and kitchen - better than some campsites! We were staying with a Kiwi couple Ken and Kathy, and on our first weekend Kathy cooked us a [View Full Entry]

Well our plan of working in Tauranga never really happened. We arrived at the worst time of year for work, as it was the gap between picking and pruning which meant there were lots of backpackers trying to find work. So after a couple of nights there and at a neighbouring town - Mount Manganui we decided to head off. However Mt Manganui was a nice spot with a mount which Ian took an early evening walk up, and we also took a couple of walks along the shore. In addition to this, we decided as we could not find work [View Full Entry]
