We made our way to our hotel. It was not as luxurious as the Warburg in Phuket but it was clean. We went for a look around our area and saw loads of food stands and pubs and restaurants. Along Sukhumi road there were also lots of market stalls that we wandered around. We were excited to see Subway so we enjoyed a cheap sub for the night. The next morning after our pancake and rice breakfast we went to find the doctor to find out what was wrong with Neil’s ear. He was given ear drops and 4 different [View Full Entry]

After our 26 hour journey we arrived at our luxury resort at 10.30pm. It was gorgeous and right on the beach! It had a restaurant, bar, a really nice swimming pool, spa, shop, huge room with balcony, internet and breakfast was included! We got straight into bed in the mosquito net and watched television. The next morning after a fry up we went exploring. Hayley bought a bikini in the market next door; we walked along the beach and found what seemed like hundreds of nice restaurants and bars. We also looked at the activities that were on offer including elephant [View Full Entry]

On our extremely long train journey (10 hours) we saw some very poor areas, dirty rivers, a derailed train, buffalos, cows and lots of plantations. Due to a train that had derailed the day before! - we had to wait a while for the ramaining pieces to be removed. When we finally made it we got a cab to our hotel. Our hotel was really nice! For 128pound for five nights, we had a buffet breakfast, a roof-top swimming pool, good size room and BATHroom and a great location with a view of the tallest twin buildings in the world. Once [View Full Entry]

After a long flight we arrived in lit up Singapore. We had prebooked at the Asphodel Inn so we made our way to Little India. Our room was basic though the tv was welcolmed!! In the morning we went for a walk around Race Course Road and the area where we were staying. There were lots of food shops and one superstore that had at least four floors and was extremely cheap! As our hotel was relatively expensive for its location we decided to try to find a cheaper hotel. So we explored the city but were unsuccessful. There were so [View Full Entry]

Upon arriving early in the morning sfter a lenthly 10 hour coach journey we made our way to our pre-booked hostel in Kings Cross called Globe. At 10 in the morning we saw drunks, tramps, prostitutes along our road so we were a bit weary! We were staying opposite Mcdonalds, Showgirls and Moulin Rouge Downunder - so very classy! Our hostel was for want of a better word a hole! It was not clean at all so we spent most of the day looking for another hostel though we had to stay here 3 days before we could get a refund [View Full Entry]

Thankfully we arrived in Auckland. We saw a deal for 19pounds which included 1 nights stay, free city tour, free sky tower entry and a free drink and thought we could not refuse. However the 10 bed dorm was tiny no bigger then the piano room and had back to back bunkbeds with the little floor space covered by backpacks! As Neil was stil unwell he was not amused. To make matters worse the next morning we missed the free city tour as the staff had neglected to tell us there was 1 a day at 10 and it was now [View Full Entry]

Upon the bus we had to introduce ourselves to the group and provide some interesting facts. We made our way to the Bay of Islands in the north of New Zealand and settled in Waitangi motel. We got the ferry across to Rusell (historically known as the hole of the pacific) and had fish and chips in the oldest pub in NZ (The Duke pub). After our delicious meal we headed to Paihia for drinks. Next morning breakfast was at 7.30 so we got up, eat and went back to bed! Arising at 11 we went to explore the Waitangi Treaty [View Full Entry]

The landscape of the south island was completely different, very dramatic and awe inspiring. We arrived at Aloha lodge in Nelson that eveing to dominoes pizza! We then went to Smugglers Pirate pub for a few drinks. The next morning, an early start, as we headed to our sky dive site in Abel Tasman. The weather was beautiful - clear blue skies. We were the second to last group to go, so watching everyone else made us raring to go. My instructors name was Bob and Neils' was Stuart. There were 3 jumpers in the plane and a camera man so [View Full Entry]

The next morning Neil and I headed to town to book into our Nevis Bungee Jump! We were taken to the site music puming to motviate us and got harnessed up! The jump was 134m and you came within 10m of the ground. Six at a time we took a cable car across to the jump Zone. Neil jumper half way between the 20 jumpers. Being the lightest i was to go last!! After a relaxing evening we got up early to explore. We saw the picturesque bay and headed towards Muttonbird Island. On the way Jourdain Sue and Andy crept up on us!! We went to see the island and took numerous pictures of the 360degree veiw of Coffs before meeting back up with them on the beach. Hayley managed to get burnt though we have been in australia for 7 weeks not impressed!! In the evening we went for a really nice meal at Mccaugleyst Sue and Andys expense - thank you!!!!
