Ok ok, we have once again succumbed to the wonderful feeling of not doing anything... at all! At Tioman we had a severe communications failure since the internet cafes were too expensive. And in Singapore we just didn't have enough time. Now, however, we have at last arrived in Sydney and prepare to explore the final country of our trip. So far it almost feels like we have come home. It's not as hot and, especially, not as humid. This is Hannes writing. As said in the last entry Erik and I split up last Sunday. He went toward Pulau Tioman, apparently getting stuck in Mersing for a night when missing the ferry by 5 minutes, and I headed for Port Dickson. It's been a lazy few days in Melaka. We have done quite a lot of relaxing and souvenier shopping among the dozens of antique shops along Jonker street and eaten plenty of good food. All in all Melaka is one of the best places on our journey. If they only had a beach... Wednesday was our by far most active day. We have just arrived in Melaka after a two hours free bus ride. It appears to be a nice little city that we easily can enjoy for a couple of days. After six full days in KL we have decided that it is among the best cities we've been to on this trip. Lots of shopping opportunities and quite a lot of interesting things to see. Thursday we slept late and then headed out to buy Erik's camera and mobile phone. Everything went smoothly and Erik was happy about the price he had haggled to. We are right now sitting in an internet cafe by the central market in Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur. We are both very happy to have escaped Sandakan, though not without costs. On the 14th of march Hannes went to the optician to collect his glasses. Irritatingly enough, they had completely forgot about them and asked him to come back three hours later. Hannes pretended to be very angry and pushed them for a dicount. He actually made them so scared that they ran to another optician and bought lenses from them and made the glasses on the spot. Back at good blogging pace again. Unfortunately it's been a depressing few days for Hannes instead of Erik, but the travelling goes on! This Tuesday Erik went diving on Sipadan and Hannes was supposed to go to Sandakan. He went up early, packed all his things and when the time came to say goodbye to Erik and Semporna he noticed his glasses were gone! After looking everywhere, asking a lot of people and pestering the reception he had to realize they were gone. But who would steal a pair of glasses? It seems it has become a habit for us to write a blog every week. Hopefully we will pull ourselves together and be as persisten as we were the first few weeks. Not that has happened since our last entry though. Our third day in Brunei was very relaxed. Breakfast was finished at 1 o'clock and we spent some time with the computers. Because of laziness and lack of computers we haven't been able to write for a while. It's been an eventful week since our last blog and we're deeply sorry. We'll begin at the beginning. As you might remember from our last blog, we were planning to go to a lagoon on Bantayan to do some snorkeling. The way there was a bit more rough than we expected, Erik poor flip-flops got penetrated by a lot of inch-long thorns. As hoped in our last blog we've just arrived at the internet cafe directly from the beach. Unfortunately Hannes experienced some problems with his snorkelling mask but we both felt better after a few shakes (coconut, banana/rhum and mango). Not a bad day on the whole. The ferry trip from Manila to Cebu was comfortable but not that exciting. We did, however, finally hear some of the infamous karaoke. The Filipinos were actually quite good at it which in Sweden wouldn't be fair to the audience since they wouldn't have anything to laugh at.
