Guernsey What a delightful trip and commentary! Thanks so much, Hilary. I, too, read theGuernsey book and enjoyed it very much--also the PBS/BBC series on Guernsey during WWII.
Thanks for this and have a wonderful time with your family in Paris.
Thank you, from Malaga Hilary, what a treat to share in your vacaciones. I'm enjoying speaking Spanish with other grandparents while watching my Norwegian-speaking granddaughter here in Malaga, Espana.
Look what I missed! hi Hilary,
Looks like you profitted \\\'\\\"a max\\\" from this vacation. I would have loved to be a part of it. Going into the unknown is just my cup of tea. Maybe we should consider Gresse for an IDFWalks trip next summer.
Your write-up is good publicity for the region.
Your week in the mountains Hilary - a splendid week, and so well written up! Sounds lovely and I'm lad you had good weather. Here in Touraine we've had a cloudy week, but we've enjoyed ourselves going to the spa at La Roche Posay. Next week is still free - do come and stay!
the Winter family in Pilagoda Valley Estate Baddegama, so delighted to read the article of my grandmother's home in Baddegama. she was Hilda Winter married to Van der poorten. I am very much in touch with the families who lived there. if you look up roots web under winter family you would read so much. Also there was a web page done all about the Pilagoda Valley Estate under the title " the Falcon" my my late Aunty. My father spent many many joyous days there i was told. its a pity most of these properties were taken over by the Bandaranayake regime. Uncle George Winter first introduced sugar cane and the first sugar factory in Sri lanka was in Pilagoda Valley, he also introduced citronella oil and cinnamon to Sri lanka
camping safari tour Looks as though you had an incredible time and what a way to do it in those big over lander vehicles. I am looking forward to my up coming camping safari tour.
I love the Zulu earrings! If you have room for a couple of pairs of the round ones, I'll buy them from you. Can't buy them around here. I have an orange and a green pair. We went to SA 3 years ago. Petted lion cubs. We didn't get to Victoria Falls though.
Hillary, the pictures are magnificent! I had a room mate who traveled to Victoria Falls and for years, whenever she talked about the Falls, she started crying remembering them.
Great stuff As always thoroughly enjoyed it (even if I have seen you both since). Hope we make it there one day. The people, the animals and the scenery are all memorable it seems. Hugs, PJ
wow! What a great itinerary. I did the pretoria, drakenberg mountain, kruger via swaziland trip in reverse order and the Joberg, soweto and overland drive to kruger part. South Africa is quite different from the rest of Africa so now you need to do either west or central africa to get a feel for the continent.
I especially enjoyed Tanzania and the animals herding on the serengeti. Bravo
Nous sommes très heureux pour Eric et Patti et leur souhaitons plein de bonheur ensemble toute leur vie.
Nous avons vu les photos, témoignage de la joie familiale en cette mémorable journée.
Amitiés
Félicitations Congratulations to you and your son. It looks like a great time was had by all. I loved the photos of the Japanese garden, especially the red leaves. Hugs, Peter
best wishes Hilary,
What a lovely wedding. I wish my name had been on the guest list. Congratulations to the bride and groom. May you have many many joyful years ahead.
With much love,
Betty
