Gossyboy

I'm a 44 year old father of 3 grown up children. I have been lucky enough to do a fair bit of travelling over the years and now the kids are doing their own thing there are a lot more travel plans on the agenda. I have had some great experiences already and want to share them with the world. My wife is my best friend and first pick partner when it comes to travel.

Wednesday 12th December 2007. Home time. It was the end of our stay and time to leave. We had one last thing to look forward to though as we were going to have breakfast in the Bellagio Buffet. I had read a lot about it and was really looking forward to it but dear oh dear, what a disaster. We paid our $18 each, which I thought was reasonable and were shown to our table. All the staff were excellent including the waiter who swiftly brought the drinks we had ordered. I went straight to the traditional breakfast section. I took a couple of sausages, a few bits of bacon, some potatoes and my favourite egg benedict’s. Unfortunately when I returned to the table I found that all of the food was cold. The benedict’s was ... read more

Tuesday 11th December 2007. Day 7. This morning we all rose later than normal and trudged off to Denny’s for a repeat visit. I was finally getting my appetite back so went for a T-bone steak with Eggs. I was still feeling a bit swimy though, so while the girlies went over to the Fashion Show Mall, (Roomy had found a couple of square inches of space in her bulging case) G & I went for some slot therapy in Casino Royal. After only half an hour I was $60 down and wishing I had shopped with the girls, as it may have been cheaper. We found the girls and another 30 minutes later I regretted my earlier decision, as I definitely prefer to lose my money in the Casino’s than the shops. After what seemed ... read more

Monday 10th December 2007. Day 6. I think I can safely say this was not really where I wanted to be at this stage of the holiday. I don’t know how many times I have told our kid’s to be aware of what’s going on around them when they go out at night. I always tell them not to leave their drinks unattended. Now here I find myself waking in a Bellagio bedroom with no recollection of where I’ve been or what I had done the previous night. Not only that but I felt like crap and just knew today was going to be a struggle. I had no time for illness. I had a hectic and fun filled schedule to keep to. Being ill was not in the plan and to say I was feeling ... read more

Sunday 9th December 2007. The Dreaded Day 5. The day started really well. We met up in our room, where G relayed a story from last night. He had gone up to the room after a drink or two in the Bellagio Casino and was feeling a little frisky and a bit boisterous. He walked to the door and gave a couple of long hard stares up and down the corridor outside his room. After checking the coast was clear he thought he would give P a good laugh and probably a bit of a shock, and dropped his trousers and skids and stood there in all his glory. He knocked the door and waited to deliver his surprise. P opened the door in a sleepy state and turned back to the bed without so much ... read more

Saturday 8th December 2007. Day 4. Wow what a day……… For all you UFC fans, it was a bad day for Ginger & long haired people but more about that later. This morning we started with breakfast at Denny’s. It’s a good cheap place with mountains of food and a regular for us last year. We all had breakfasts which included pancakes which pleased P as she could have her pud with her main course. Mind you the toppings for the girl’s pancakes did not arrive with the main delivery of food. Fed up with waiting the girls carried on until I had to eventually go and ask for them. The reason was that they were being warmed up. When they finally arrived they were stone cold. I pointed this out to the lovely waitress and ... read more

Friday 7th December 2007. Day 3. I took the wise move of volunteering P to do the tea & coffee run this morning. Although I was wide awake and would have loved something to do, I just couldn’t face the Spanish Inquisition (or were they mainly Mexican?) again at that ungodly hour. P is a very organised person. She approaches everything like an army general planning a war; nothing is missed out or left to chance. So it was no surprise when she returned with three perfect cups of English tea with milk and sugar and perfectly formed coffee for G just how he likes it. She even bought me my favourite daytime tipple of a diet coke. We had another early start and made our way over to the newly christened Miracle Mile shops. Nothing ... read more

2nd Night…………. Just want to mention the toilet in our room. The bathroom was spacious, nicely decorated and the shower was big enough for 2. But the loo was something else! It was like one of those ones you get on a plane. It works on suction and disposes of your business like a huge vacuum cleaner. I’m sure my ears popped every time I flushed. The main worry was that anything dangling in a 6-foot radius would be caught up in the vortex and would disappear forever. I always stood near the door just to be safe. Was damn noisy too. At 2 in the morning, any flush on our floor or the one above or below would result in more broken sleep. The other annoying thing was the water bubbling up the sink in ... read more

My wife and I have been to this resort a few times. We renewed our wedding vows there in 2006. Its a fabulous, friendly and romantic destination. Below is a review from our most recent visit......... Yet another great holiday at the Paradisus Rio De Oro. Some of you may know it was the third visit for my wife Karen and I and as usual it didn’t disappoint. Although there were a few changes and problems which I will mention later, that didn’t ruin our trip but has left me wondering if we will ever return?? I won’t bore you with all the flight details etc, other than to say it was the first time we had upgraded to Premium Cabin and at around £130 each I think it was well worth it. From the lady ... read more

First, some background on the intrepid explorers. Myself, Gossyboy, 41 years young and married to Kaz, 45. This was our second trip to Vegas. We travelled with my sister Pat, 50 and her husband Graham, 60, who will be known in this report as P & G. Also our dear friend Karen affectionately known on this trip as Roomy as she shared our room to keep the costs of single supplements down. It was these threes first trip to America, not just Vegas. I won’t bore you with travel details. Only that the flight was a bit late. The beer flowed at Gatwick and the Whiskeys kept coming on the plane. The idea was to drink a few so that sleep was achieved on the way, but as usual we arrived in Vegas absolutely knackered and ... read more
