Monday 10th December 2007. Day 6.
I think I can safely say this was not really where I wanted to be at this stage of the holiday. I don’t know how many times I have told our kid’s to be aware of what’s going on around them when they go out at night. I always tell them not to leave their drinks unattended. Now here I find myself waking in a Bellagio bedroom with no recollection of where I’ve been or what I had done the previous night. Not only that but I felt like crap and just knew today was going to be a struggle.
I had no time for illness. I had a hectic and fun filled schedule to keep to. Being ill was not in the plan and to say I was feeling very sorry for myself was an understatement.
I don’t know what was worse, being in the Hospital and losing a night of my holiday or the amazingly stupid feeling I was experiencing for letting myself end up in the situation in the first place.
Guy’s and Girls, check your insurance before you go away. Since our return I have contacted ours and I
Cookies!!
Kaz's cookie pudding............ fear I may not be covered. The only paperwork I have from the hospital states that I was suffering from severe Alcoholic Intoxication. Remember I only had 2 beers and 1 Whiskey (and that is the honest truth), so the insurance people are saying that my “illness” was self inflicted and that self inflicted injuries / illnesses are not covered………………
Lets ALL put it down to experience. It’s a sure fact it won’t happen to me again, please don’t let it happen to you……………..
I woke up at about 11:00 and really didn’t feel good. Kaz had put me to bed to rest while P, G and Roomy had gone to see the Grand Canyon in a Maverick Helicopter. Roomy’s feet were back to normal dimensions today so she had her original nickname back.
When they returned P, G, Kaz & I walked over to Paris for a mooch around. I felt like I was walking on a moving floor, (the kind you would find in a fair ground fun house). We decided to go down to Sahara on the Monorail, as we hadn’t been down that way up to now. I don’t know what got into me,
Me.....
Looking VERY worse for wear!!
Shortly after this I went back to bed...... but I decided to ride on “Speed” with Kaz while we were there. Probably not the best decision I had made for a while. It’s a great ride but it didn’t help with the vertigo I was experiencing. We wandered round for a while then Mono’d back to the Paris. I was going through the motions really. I didn’t want to miss anything and wanted to spend maximum time with the family, but I felt so rough I just wanted to sleep.
I walked back to Bellagio and had to go back to bed. Kaz caught up on some much needed sleep too. She had been up all night with me after all. P & G stayed outside to get a Fountain fix. We had all seen a few shows over the week but I think you can never get enough of that Bellagio spectacular. I think they watched about 4 in a row.
I woke at about 4pm to get ready for tonight’s special dinner at Olives. We had been looking forward to this all week and although I was still feeling rough I managed to enjoy the meal. I couldn’t eat all I ordered but everyone else really enjoyed their food. It was of excellent quality and what a setting. We booked a table on the patio outside. With the patio heaters pumping out full blast it was comfortable even though the temperature had plummeted that night. We laughed when Kaz ordered Cookies & Ice Cream for pudding. A huge plate arrived with no less than 8 different Cookies and 3 scoops of the most delicious Ice Cream. She had to ask for a box to take 6 of the Cookies back to the room.
We paid the bill and I had to go back to bed at only 8pm. In fact I was so tired I slept right trough until about 10 am on Tuesday morning.
The girlies went over the road to Paris and went up the Eiffel Tower to get some wonderful photos of the Bellagio Fountains while G went for some solo slot time. I’m told that G ended up suffering that evening from a kind of sunburn from Olives very efficient patio heaters. He always says he’s not bald but his hairless head is a solar panel for a sex machine. It was certainly well charged that night.
