Grand European Alps Adventure

a trip by John Sohrweid
From: September 5th 2014
Until: September 23rd 2014

I am planning a self-guided/self-driven 19 day Grand European Alps Adventure that will includes the following countries; Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Austria. After living in Germany for seven years while I was in the U.S. Air Force, I found that September is one of the best months to travel in Europe. The reason is September is mostly mid to low season and is after the month of August when most Europeans take their vacations. I feel that I have created a fun filled adventure, with photography in mind, that will provide the best photography opportunities and exciting cultural experiences. Whether it is immersing ones self into the culture of a historical city festival in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany at the 'Meistertrunk' festival and the historical city festival in Dinkelsbuhl, Germany, to cultural folk dinner shows in Lucerne, Switzerland, to an overnight stay in a historical Swiss chalet nestled in a deep Swiss valley, a helicopter sightseeing flight in Zermatt, Switzerland to view some of Switzerland's highest peaks up close and personal, to renting a motorboat on Lake Como, visits to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and ending our adventure at Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany. I plan to share my experiences from developing my itinerary and planning all aspects of this trip. I also plan to share and write about the experiences when I take the trip in September 2014.
