great info and pictures about puraran hi glen! im embarassed that ive travelled europe and middle east and i was born in nearby province of albay, yet ive not been to catanduanes. your blog certainly convinces me to work out on my next trip--puraran beach. im glad to know you liked the place, there's a good feeling i have at the legazpi airport whenever i go home and there are a number of foreigners..discovering bicol. thanks,, i wish youd come back for the butandings in donsol, sorsogon. btw, check out bagasbas beach in vinsons, camarines norte. my brother just went there three weeks ago and he says its good.
Fantastic Wow! wait till I show this to Dennis.....magnificent! Thanks Glen for showing us the place...see we've got nice place in Sydney!....You both look young and lovely!
Palarong Bicol It was nice to have had the Palarong Bicol last week with Kite Boarding and Wave Surfing competition.
Yeah We several times at KFisher Restaurant, We are lots of Fresh Seafoods. They have all the Squids, Shrimps, Fresh Tanigue, Pandawan, Also Sashimi, California Maki. I also like the chicken BBQs. Most unforgetable of all is the Seafood Bollabaise Soup with Crabs and Japanese Seafood Noodle.
I love the Bagasbas beach, the Seafoods at KFisher, the privacy and warmth of Daetenos.
Fresh Seafood Resto in Daet If you are visiting Bicol, it is worth detour dropping by Daet Camarines Norte (Don’t use Quirino Hi-way). They have a nice clean Bagasbas beach, known for Surfing and Kite Boarding, that is more private, surrounded with nice and accomodating locals, Mampurog Running water, Islands to tour and Superb restaurants like KFisher Seafood and Japanese Restaurant. Authentic Taste with best ingredients but locally priced. Why? The owners family main business is Fishing Boats and fish Brokers. The owner is also well travelled in Japan, US, Ireland having tasted all the best international foods. You may visit their website at http://www.kfisherseafooddaet.com. When you visit, look for Mama Thel and you’ll get an excellent overview of the best places to go to in Daet.
KFisher Seafood and Japanese Restaurant is near town center
Located at 1101 V. Basit St. Daet C.N. & Tel 4403433, 5712211
Response to questions Firstly regarding Bernie's question, the time it takes to travel from the aiport to Puraran beach varies depending on whether you take public or private transport. Could do it in an hour using private transport however using public transport allow two hours at least. The resort doesn't have a street address but the tricycle drivers know where it is.
Now to TJ's question. Carrying a 7' 6" mini mal on a trycycle will be a challenge, I'll think you'll need to get a taxi or private hire vehicle.
Tricycle Ride Hi Glen,
I'm bringing my 7'6 mal. I have tie-down ropes usually for cars. U think a tricycle can accommodate my board from Baras to the beach? I've seen trikes carry boards but not sure if they're as long asmine. Or is there any other means of transport like a jeepney ride going there? Thanks in advance!
Surfing Lessons There were no surfing lessons when I visited and it's probably not a real good place to learn. It's a reef break that can be quite dangerous. Better off going to La Union where the surf is more suited to beginners.
surfing lessons My ancestors are from Catanduanes. Im fascinated by the pictures above. ill visit your place after 2yrs. Do you have any surfing lessons? Kindly email back.
Room Rate Hi ,
can you please send me the room rate with the pictures of puraran beach .. and also let me know how to get from the airport to puraran beach ..
thank you
Travel time It took me about a 8 hours in total but I took slow buses that made a lot of stops. I'm sure the tripo can be made in much less time in a car or by a direct bus that doesn't make so many stops...Glen
access to puraran There is an ongoing road construction from Bato(nearby town) to Baras and its about 70% done so travel to Puraran could be long but it will be worth the trip.I was told by a friend that a short stretch of unpaved road will be left once the project is completed this year.I was also surprise to know that there is a Majestic resort nearby Puraran. Im leaving in Manila but has roots in Virac so we make it a point to visit the beautiful island during summer (May).BTW there are 3 airlines now servicing Virac from Manila namely, PAL,Cebu pacific and Zest airline(formerly Asian Spirit) with daily flts.
Travel to Marinduque I enjoyed reading your travel to Marinduque and the Moriones Festival. One of the big changes in traveling to Marinduque is the resumption of air services from Manila by Zest Air. A lot of visitors including my children complained about the crowded ferries, long waits and inconvenience of traveling from Manila via Lucena, when they visited Marinduque two years ago. At that time there was no airplane service. But today, when I informed them that air transportation is now available, they indicated they want to visit Marinduque again as soon as possible. The next time you visit Marinduque drop by for free coffee and conversation at Chateau Du Mer in Amoingon, Boac. Cheers!
large waves and fine sand a very exciting place to surf with its todering wavesand fine sand
