Thanks for the updates! It is great fun to read about your adventures and how much fun you are having. I can't wait to read more (and see some pictures!).
Miss you!

Take care...Keep having fun “ while Alex biked all over the city and played "hop over the kid" on his bike.”
“They tapped us and shortly thereafter they fell over.” (Motorbike collision) I can believe your parents are holding their breath, proud of your intrepidation, wondering if you’ll survive to bear them grandchildren!
So what kind of expats settle in Vietnam? I expect our tourism is a huge plus for the economy, but have you noticed residual anger, given the death and destruction of the war? (For me, it’s hard to believe it’s been over more than 3 decades. I passed my pre-induction physical in 1967 before escaping with a Peace Corps deferment).
So, Julija, be careful with those ageist remarks“ I must be becoming an old woman.” At almost 63, I still consider myself a backpacker, disowning those images in plate glass windows of a stooped, wrinkled guy with thinning white hair. I’m looking forward to some other culture jaunts with Juliet (my 8-month old granddaughter).
In years to come, it’ll be tough to have such a relaxed traveling pace. Keep enjoying it now!

It's been a long time!!! You've been gone almost 4 months--and we miss you!! I'm looking for a new entry soon!!!! or I'll start freaking out. Where are you? Things are fine here--even though it's almost the end of April and it's still snowing off and on. We are so anxious for spring. Masi is getting really good at starting your motorcycle. Much love to both of you---Mom
streamsoceanscitiesmountains You guys are troopers! Boy scouts kick ass. Do palm tree trunks constitute 'firewood'? I'm picturing Alex hacking away at a coconut tree with a sharp stone. Lord of the Flies style only a bit older! When you two gonna cross that 'ol equator? Miss you guys!
adventures/renton I am thrilled to read your latest news. Life goes on here in 50 degrees and rain. This is the worst spring is history--so be glad you are where you are. I love hearing your tales and continue to be so glad you are doing so well. Miss you---Mom-KD
Wonderful Writng Hello Julija and Alex! Wow, I really enjoyed your excellent method of the reader almost being there. You have a great talent in your writing and what you present makes me feel a part of your saga. I can just see Alex building that bonfire, as well as the two of you going into that majestic cave. I agree, tourism will change the place to some degree. I'm glad you have been there in its beauty!
"special" ingredients from the "smile" bar? I don't wanna know what THAT might be. Watch out for little Julija, she might get eaten by a boar! Your caving story reminds me of a time spelunking in the Ozarks with Tonya, when we picked up some $7 headlamps from Wal-Mart, and entered a cave. A group of 8 or so Arkansaw natives entered the cave behind us, with one dim flashlight. One of them exclaimed, "look ma, she got's flashlights on her head!"
I am having the best time catching up with your blog. I am smiling, laughing and shocked about all the amazing adventures you are having! What an increadible adventure!
reassuring Well-that was certainly full of reassuring adventures....Let's see--diving 40 feet into deep holes in a river; giant spiders: motorcyle dying on side of river; risk of fallingoff precipice in caves where you would never be found. Wow--what's a mother to think?!
Every entry scares me to death. PLEASE--be careful!!! I love you!!
Mom
Keep on, keeping on! Hello Alex and Yuliya. The French atmosphere must have been a nice change. Have you gone into Vietnam at this point? I've heard it's turned into a nice place for travelers. My motorcycle battery went dead, so I'm getting a charger and see if I can get Layla going again. It's 55 degrees here and a bit cold. Rain is coming in tommorow. Love you both and be safe. Dad
Sweet Transvestite That sweet Dutch transvestite made your night! Now all you need is to bring back that crazy rooster in the tree that kept you up all night. I think the transvestite would win that battle.
posting photos isn't as easy as you'd think Thanks for the comment! Glad to hear from you. Along with slacking on the blog we haven't been posting photos. But posting photos can be much more complicated. Often the computer will crash, or the shop will close, or we can't find the file they're in. Many places don't want to you put photos on their computer as they're scared of viruses. But soon, very soon we'll post some!
Keep going on Alex and Julya Hello gang! I've been recovering my hernia operation and the loss of a great woman who has decided to be with her buddies in California. Sad to say the least. You all have been having some great times and meeting a lot of good people. Just stay safe and enjoy your trip. Thanks for all the information. It's been a lot of fun reading your e-mails. Love ya, Roger
Julija! I am so glad to hear you guys are safe and well and having an amazing time! I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back! You guys should put some more pics up though, I want to see more your adventures! Stay safe, I miss you!

It's a small world It is surprising, yet not--that you meet up with fellow travelers on down the road. I recall running in to people at a youth hostel in Quito that I had met in Colombia. It's a phenomenon of reading the same or similar travel recommendations.
Waiting for some news Hi you guys. It's been a while and I am anxiously waiting to hear about your latest adventures. I hope you are all well now--and over your bugs. Let us know where you are and what's going on. Also, I want some new photos to put up in my classrrom. You both are amazing and we miss you. Love you, Mom
Wow, I am so amazed at what you guys are doing. That picture of Khao San Road makes me nostalgic, I want to go traveling again! I love reading about your adventures so keep them coming!
Sick but strong and resourceful Hello A and J,
Wow, I'm glad to hear from you. It sounds like you took the sick hit but found a place where you could really relax. Now that you have your wind back, I'm sure you are sailing on to a new destination. It's super that you have met some fine friends on your journey - outstanding! All the Heine's love you guys and my friends enjoy your blog as I do. Be safe and enjoy God's blessings. Lv. Roger
Ach Phoo That is prolly a word or type of dish in Thai. Hey y'all! What gives? I haven't heard from you guys in a week! For someone tied to her computer, that is like 70 hours of wondering "why haven't I heard from them? What are they doing?" Vera's play is on Saturday - I'll try and bootleg some footage of her and email it to you...
We miss you guys! Jon is finally back, now I'm just anxiously awaiting your return!
My name is Alex and I've grown tired of cleaning up hazardous materials spills in Washington.... I need to see something more inspiring, so I've decided to head off to Thailand with my girlfriend. We're leaving in January and going through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia; then onward to Australia and New Zealand. This should be interesting... ... full info
