South America July 20th 2009

Well, what can I say about these last few days? I was out of luck yet again for breakfast on the 2nd day. They felt bad that I didn´t like breakfast before, so they asked me if I like avocado. Believe me, I love avocado. When they bought the avocado back to the house, I took a huge spoon full of it. It tasted very bitter! I felt so bad bad because they went down to the market to get this special for me and I didn´t like it. I told my dad in english since they barely understood it. His solution? Put a huge helping of salt onto it, ¨believe me son, it´ll taste better!¨ No it didn´t, that only made it worse. I didn´t want to eat it, but I didn´t want to be ... read more

We didn´t get a chance to update our blog till now, but the flight was grueling. After 8 hours sitting down, my left butt cheek fell asleep. We arrived at about midngiht. My cousins are very nice people, they welcomed us into their home for the next few nights. The night life here is very interesting! At 2 a.m. people are still at restaurants and movies and what not. They have casinoes and raves as well! We went to bed a 3, and awoke at 11. I had a peruvian breakfast, bread, ham, and cheese. The bread was great, but the cheese was hard and it cruncched as I bit into it. I wasn´t a fan of the ham either. I had bread with this thing spread across it. It had the consisitency of peanut butter, ... read more

It's been a bit... Since the last time you heard from me. We have gone back and forth trying to decide; do we do it or do we cancel??? We went on our first 4 mile training walk on 4/14 around our community. It was a casual stroll with good conversation with my son. I knew he liked his Forensics class but I learned he really really likes his Forensics class during this walk. Walk took us 1 1/2 hours... In addition to the walks I've been going to the gym every day and putting in 2-3 miles each day on a treadmill at full incline. On Thursday 4/16 the walk around the community wasn't as well received by Juan as our 1st one 4/14... He's gonna get bored and doesn't believe a simple waslk is ... read more

1st blog entry ever! Ok, so if you haven't ready my profile. Here's a 2 sec version of my story. I am prepping to go to Peru with my son. Started planning the trip months ago and T-3 months and counting. Leave USA 7/15/09... I had this great idea that we would experience the Inca Trail - 4 day hike together... I had another fantastic idea - let's drive to Georgia for a trial hike!!! Things can only get better from here, right? Left work 4/11 and picked up my boys (Juan 16 and Justin 11) in order to start my drive to Marietta, Ga. Met up with my buddy Jaime and spent the night. 4/12 - drove two hours from his house to http://www.mountaincrossings.com/index.asp. Can you believe the guy that owns the store (Winton) noticed ... read more
