Berlin Thank you Frank. I have amended my entry accordingly. I certainly don't want to put something down that is not correct. Oh and we definitely will return to Berlin. There is much more that we wish to see and we did love the hospitality of the Berlin people.
One word WOW Henny. Photos are great and places you are visiting are mind boggling. That photo of Michelangelos\' David reminded me of years ago when I worked in St George\'s Terrace at an insurance company. There was a department store called Foys (dating myself here) and they brought a statue of David (had to be a replica but it was the size of the original) and they placed it in the store. I can\'t remember what they were promoting -- Italian something obviously. It was so tall that they put it at the bottom of the staircase on the below ground floor, facing St George\'s Tce. When you walked in from the street you were faced with the statue and at eye level was - GUESS WHAT! Quite funny but I was an innocent 16 year old - a lot of giggling when on :).
Venice... Ahh, fabulous description of Venice Henny. I quite understand why you didn't want to leave. Love the coloured houses pic of Burano. I regret not going there now. On my bucket list!
In the ocean Ciao bella. Love the bathers - you almost blend in with the ocean and are you sure you are in the ocean and not a pool? How stunning does the water look? Love it. Have fun. Rose xx
Paris That is a lovely photo of you Henny. One that you will treasure I would think.
I have heard that the French are an unfriendly lot, and it sounds like you found them that way too !
Perhaps they thought you were Poms !! You should have worn a little Aussie Stick Pin so they could tell the difference !!
Paris You have had an interesting walk around Paris, haven't you !! You'll need another holiday to get over your holiday when you arrive home !! Glad to hear your seeing so much.
Hat You look a-mazing in that hat! I can't get over it. Phenomenal. I feel like you may have been a hat person your whole life and just never knew it. Darn it I'm going to go out and buy one of those hats now.
Berlin Ciao bella. Love the trivia - amazing history there. Your blogs are fabulous. Perhaps you could do the school newsletter for me from now on. Don't forget to not stress yourself out too much with the blogs (says me, who is just like you! :)). Looks like you and Clive are having a wonderful time. I look forward to 'Slide Night' when you return - perhaps Josie could bring her holiday snaps too and we could sleep over... :):)
Miss you - remember to come back! I will have a bag of jubes waiting for you. Love, Rose xxxx
Checkpoint Charlie I notice MacDonalds behind Checkpoint Charlie! You can't escape the big 'M' anywhere in the world can you? At least it is somewhere to use the loo as they are hard to find in Europe....:)
McDonalds Have just only realised that I can respond to a comment on the blog. Duh! Yes McDonalds are almost everywhere. At this point the only place we haven't come across a McDonalds is Poland. I tell you what though they haven't all got toilets! I think the penny has dropped and they are aware that they are supplying toilet facilities to tourists. Most toilets in Europe you have to pay to get into anyhow. It's an expensive business going to the toilet in Europe. The positive is that as soon as you get up off the toilet seat there is someone with a cloth and the disinfectant wiping the seat behind you! Thanks for your email Glenys. I will respond soon. Finding time to do the blog and answer emails is challenging but I do really appreciate being kept up to date with everything so thank you! :)
Hi Henny and Clive, fascinating history. I\'m impressed that you\'re remembering it all. Watch where you put your feet and don\'t do a \'Josie\'. Luv, Kate
Warsaw Enjoying your Blog. Glad your seeing as much as you can......even if you have to wait hours !!
And please stay on your feet Henny, we don't want to see any walking wounded when you arrive home.
Memories Remind some of when we went to all those places! I think we must have been in the same little shoemaking shop. Did you you get the demo of how he makes the clogs too?
Holland Hallo Hennie en Clive,
Ik volg jullie helemaal. Fantastische reis en jullie zien heel veel. Mooie foto's . Goede reis verder !
heel veel groeten van
Nel
Gorgeous Pics Henny! I love the Chateau de Versailles and the gardens are stunning. Wouldn't like to do the weeding there! Sounds like you are having a lovely time. Take care. Rose x
Versailles Great to hear all about Versailles, as we didn't make it there. What a trek.... looks like it was worth the pain though. I'll bet you're exhausted. Can't believe what you've crammed into a few days! XX
New friends in Delft - Cows Ciao bella. The cows look a little stiff in Delft - it would have made a much more interesting photo if you were milking it! Rose, BFFxxx Miss ya.
Paris Ciao bella! I have also heard mixed reports about Paris. I have not been there myself, but would still like to visit one day to make up my own mind... What is their food like? Have you eaten frog\'s legs or escargo? Mmmmm, yummy - where\'s my bucket! Hey, great photos too - I am very impressed. Also, don\'t tell Josie, but your blog is so much more professional and with heaps of information, although it would be nice if you could throw in a fall or two, just for a bit of competition with Josie\'s stories!! Obviously you have bought better quality shoes! ha! Luv ya, Rose, BFF xx
Our bags are packed, we're ready to go, we're standing here inside our door, we hate to wake you up to say goodbye . . . so we won't . . . in fact we're gone!
Our European adventure has begun . . .... full info
