Hi - I searched for your blog as I am a 25 yr old British girl taking a trip through Africa in the Autumn. Loved your story about the photo portrait - lol - I have been in many similar situations myself in Asia and other countries. I had forgotten these pitfalls of travelling alone as a woman but you have reminded me well! Good luck on your travels!

Oh how awful for you it must have been a terrible ordeal. Thank God for Ben. I really hope that you enjoy Thailand I think that you will and that you can put this behind you. I have been to africa and have no desire to return but i have been to Thailand 8 times so there must be something about it. Keep your chin up and I hope your new memories can make up in some way.

What a daunting experience.
Hi Erin, When we read your blog our heart went out to you. It is so unfortunate that there are people in this world that have to resort to stealing. We are so sorry that it happened to you. Our heart goes out to you for the things you lost but you will always have the memories of those other places. We are thankful that you are safe. Unbelievable!
Hey Whippo! Well of course, first I am happy you were not hurt! The bastards! I wish you had jumped off that bus as soon as you had your bad feeling! But you are such a trooper! You know that you are a strong cookie when you refuse to let an experience like that ruin your whole trip! I am very proud of you for not running home to Canada immediately! Have faith that somehow your pictures will turn up too! I hope that you enjoy the rest of your journey and come home safely! I miss you tons! And give your friend/angel a hug for me when you see him! As my mom use to say to me, whenever you lose some material things, you can always count on your ability to make them again....of course it most have been hard, but I am really glad that those men didn't hurt you. Erin you have balls of steel!!!! You are such a strong woman and I'm so proud of how you have chosen to carry on despite the horrible experiences you endured. You are so right to not let it ruin your travels. It has definitely made you stronger! That damn daladala driver is lucky you didn't get your hands on him!! He would have been sorry! It's unfortunate that some people in this world have to resort to stealing to survive. It's very sad. Be glad that you have the strenth of character to rise above their pathetic actions.
