I crossed the border from Vietnam at the most remote place it the south, it was my favourite border crossing. I was with Karim and Monica. This border had just opened but so many people was using it, it was like a market, so many things were going on, they were even planning to build a casino!! I was supposed to provide them a passport photos that i ccould not find so i spent quite a while looking for it and meanwhile the officers were joking with us, everyone very smiley and Friedel. We crossed the border from Vietnam to Kep in Cambodia with motorbike, around 2hours journey in total but landscapes were absolutely stunning, the road was not great but i had the best driver so we were always fast and it was not ... read more

On etait ... read more

What a country! It will be hard for me to put words to describe this experience. It has been such an enrichment on so many levels… I did not travel much but I had the genuine experience with amazing people from there. I felt like I was travelling back in the past when everything was simpler and people were genuinely nice. Huay Xai I crossed the Mekong and arrived in Laos with Monica, my Italian travelling buddy that I had met a few days before and 2 other guys. We arrived too late to travel further in Laos so we had to stay at the border for a night. That s when I met my only enemy of this trip (so far), one drunk English guy we crossed the border with wished my death as Monica ... read more

I was lucky to have found really kind people to host me in Sydney because as it was getting closer to christmas, it was harder and harder to find a couch available. Rob and Anet had decided not to receive anyone for a week as Rob's daughter was there. But when they saw my request they felt sorry for me and offered me a room at their place. It was 45min away from down town, but it was good enough for me. When I got there, Rob was at the hospital and it was Aurelie and .her boyfriend, other french couchsurfers coming from Thailand who welcomed me. I met Anet later on when she came back from hospital. The following day, Aurelie and her boyfriend was leaving to New Zealand, I left with them early morning ... read more

Auckland I arrived in Auckland airport after 13h flight over the Pacific Ocean and completely jetlagged. Time difference was around 16hours and I missed an entire day of my life! It was 4am, I have to say I had trouble to 'land' properly. Such a big culture shock after 6 months in South America! Only spanish words were coming to my mind and I took me a while to accept how organised, clean and new everything was around me. I was definitely not in South America anymore. I saw loads of Maoris at the airport, something very new for me. But soon, I had the feeling to be back in the UK. People speak the same language (even if they say they don't), chains of stores and restaurants are the same, product & food too. It ... read more

I did a update in english a few weeks ago but in less than one second, I lost everything so i hope this won t happen again otherwise I ll just give up on writing this blog, so frustrating!! Anyway, I left the cheapest country in South America to arrive to the most expensive one, Chile, quite a shock!! I was also quite surprises to leave a country where we had been on sand roads for days and as soon as we crossed the border, I feel like I m in Europe, very good roads, signalization everywhere, despite I m in the middle of a desert!! Atacama Together with Fabien and Elise, we had arrived in the desert of Atacama. Again, we were quite shocked when we arrived in the touristic village. So close to Bolivia ... read more
