You can view my approximate route here: http://www.travelblog.org/gmaps/map_2et.html. Interestingly, the route map looks quite like the shape of a fish, heading for home. I wonder if that is symbolic of something?

Hello from Perth! Welcome to the very last of my travelblog entries (well...until the next time I decide to go travelling that is!). I am in Perth now, on the west coast of Australia. Next week, I fly to South Africa, and then I fly home in mid May!!! I am extremely excited to come back, although my excitement is tempered by the thought of this wonderful amazing experience being over already. Where did 6 months go??? I can hardly believe it. It only seems like yesterday that I was crying as I said goodbye to people! So many people said to me before I left that my time away would fly by and I would have a brilliant time. I didn't really believe you then. But you were all completely right, so I take ... read more
Well, dear friends, here is my last blog from Aotearoa... The Land of the Long White Cloud... New Zealand... (aka heaven on earth). I fly to Australia tomorrow. Just 12 hours left of NZ. Aaahhh...if only all good things could last forever. I am utterly sick at heart to be leaving this wonderful place and have been struggling for at least 2 weeks now not to cry every day at the thought of going. I will be leaving a big part of my heart here and will just have to return to claim it. There is no doubt in my mind that I will be back here, soon. I just wish that I could bring you all here and show you how deliciously beautiful it is. Words can't do it justice, and the pictures can't capture ... read more
Hello from the South Island!! I can't believe it is already getting close to the end of February. This month has gone so fast! I have had a wonderful relaxing time, which has really felt like having a holiday from my holiday. There are really only 3 things I have done since my last blog: lie around on glorious sandy beaches, with the occasional swim in crsytal clear aquamarine sparkling water; go for long, long walks along stunning coastlines; and go wine tasting (!). I also went on a very "well behaved" date with a 35 year old, extremely un-goodlooking, divorced with a kid, retired dairy farmer called "Fletch" which is very amusing, but quite sweet really. What more could a girl ask for?? :-) Hahaha... I am writing this from Christchurch which is on the ... read more
This is the last time I will file a travel blog from the north island of New Zealand. I am due to cross over to the south island tomorrow morning to finish off what I didn't do before! I have been packing it in since my last blog and have been to no less than 6 different places in a month. So it's a pretty full blog this time...! NB: I HAVE ADDED TONS OF PICTURES. TO VIEW THEM ALL, YOU NEED TO CLICK ON THE "NEXT" BUTTON THAT APPEARS AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE MAIN BLOCK OF PHOTOS. Rotorua After finishing off in Dunedin on the south island I flew up to Rotorua on the north island where I met up with my best friend Vanessa and James, her boyfriend. They are also ... read more
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! And welcome to my first blog of 2007. It's quite a full one because I have been super busy since my last entry and got up to all kinds of wonderful and amazing things. I am sorry it has taken me so long to get it published, but I was having a lot of trouble loading up the pictures. As it is, I have added only a fraction of them, because it was really just taking too long. So I have not put on anything from the Catlins Coast (Invercargill to Dunedin) or from Dunedin, like my pics from the Taieri Gorge Railway. Sorry about that! I might try adding these at a later date... Anyway....Going way back to 2006 firstly...On Christmas Day I flew from Auckland on the north island to Queenstown ... read more
Well, this is my last entry for 2006 and it seems amazing to think I am half way around the world in hot sunshine when it is meant to be Christmas. Fortunately, it doesn't really feel at all Christmassy, and I am hoping it stays that way so I don't get too homesick. I am currently back in Auckland (again!!!) as I have a flight on Christmas Day itself (cheapest I could find) from Auckland down to Queenstown which is on the South Island. It's a long story as to why I am flying down there, but the short version is that I am going to be walking the Milford Track (see www.ultimatehikes.co.nz for more info) starting on 28 Dec from Queenstown. The past few weeks have gone so fast! The last time I updated my ... read more
This is a bit of a delayed and rather long entry due to the fact that I have been extremely busy and not had a chance to update the blog for a while. Yes, I can hear you all saying - "busy?? how can she be busy while she is away on holiday?" Well - you know - places to go, people to see...You would be amazed just how busy one can get when one is relaxing and having fun! LOL...However, people have been chasing me up about the fact that they have not heard from me in a while, so here is all my news. Sorry it's a bit long...! I have put so many photos on, you will have to click on to a second page to view them all!!! I left Dan and ... read more
I MADE IT TO NEW ZEALAND!!!! One of my long time, dearly held and most important dreams has finally been fulfilled! I am soooo happy! Had a very long journey from Bali to NZ via Sydney. It was an overnight flight and of course I didn't sleep, so by the time we landed in Sydney I was on one of those jet lagged, over tired, crazy highs you get LOL...I sent about a million hyper active emails from Sydney to various people telling them I was in Sydney International Airport! Crazy...However on the flight into Sydney I did get to see a MAGICAL sunrise as we flew over the "Red Centre". It was utterly spectacular - one of the moast beautiful things I have ever seen. Initially the moon was still in a drak blue sky ... read more
Have finally added my Hong Kong photos if you are interested to take a look! I will add some more photos from Bali and also some from New Zealand very soon, now that I have found an internet cafe with a good cheap connection!! Hope you are all well. Email me soon!!!! xxx In comparison to the essay on Hong Kong, there is not too much to write about Bali. This is mainly because we did very little apart from lying on the beach, lying by the pool, sleeping, reading, eating, enjoying Balinese massages. It was extremely hot, all the time, and we both managed to get sunburnt (only the second time in my life!). But it was LOVELY. Sooooo relaxing. One of the days we were there we went on a tour of various places ... read more
Hello all! I guess this counts as my very first proper travel blog, as I am now officially TRAVELLING! . The good news is, I have had a totally fabulous time in Hong Kong, my first stop. I have been told by a number of people not to go on and on and on about how wonderful everything is because it makes them sick, so I will try not to be TOO glowing. However, I have to be honest - it really has been fantastic so far. Hong Kong is a brilliant city. Everyone should come here. I could honestly wax lyrical about it for hours. But I will try not to go on too long, because from my experience of reading blogs by other people I know it can get a little dull for the ... read more
