Scotland In Miniature indeed! Excellent summary! My wife and I just visited Arran a month ago, and we seriously considered packing up, leaving the states and moving. We REALLY didn't want to leave.
The stones at Machrie Moor are quite a sight. They have an almost mystic charm to them. The parking is easy to miss. I recommend getting a detailed ordinance map of the island just so you don't miss anything!
Also, King's Cave is a great small hike, and Glenashdale Falls in Whiting Bay is a spectacular 2-tier waterfall. There are numerous golf courses along the island's coast with great views.
We saw the seal statue too! Fortunately, there were 3 live seals about a mile further down the road.
Hi there. Your blog is so great. Really enjoyed reading it. I'm a travel writer and always love to hear what everyone else has to say about a place. What sort of guides are you using? If you don't mind me asking. Happy travels!

Arran Jumpers are not from Arran Hiya,

Barbados bound We'll send you a few sunny pics to balance the cold and rain.
VB - am off soon back up to FW for start of Caley Challenge (June).
Shaz and Al - look fwd to coming to weedgie land in April and seeing B'pops.
Love from Norms and Lu xx
Glad to have you back Thanks guys. I feel homesick. It looks amazing. The rain in NZ cannae compare to the tartan clad misery guts rain we get in Sco'lund.
Can I give you a mission to make me feel better?
Gonnae stick up a photo of the hideous buildings at the Nevisport end of Fort William High Street. Everytime I think of the building and carpark around WHSmith, Mackays and the Doctor Surgery I get a warm fuzzy feeling about not being there.
Blogging only on the UK? Please please please keep blogging. I'm doing most of my blogging from around Japan (where I live at the moment) but your domestic trips are still overseas adventures to someone else. Besides, I'm going to be in England and Scotland in a couple of months so it's interesting reading for me ;-) Jo Trouble
p.s. congrats on the baby
Work... Hi Steven - yip, Alan has been working in Knutsford for the past 7 months. I'm obviously not working, but wouldn't go as far as saying I'm bumming around, esp at 4am for Beebop's feeds! Hope you are well,
Shaz. x
Nice to hear from you again and baby Beth is adorable. Very nice pictures and writeup. What proud parents! And you both look great too. Keep them blogs coming!
Mmm kebabs... yum yum yum. Me pal Sylv went to the Walthamstow dog races once (home to East 17 no less)... she was also a bit disappointed with the whole affair. Have you ever tried doing accumulator bets on the footie? Rob got addicted after putting on 1 poonderly that he found down the back of the couch. There were spreadsheets and everything - sad!
Easter Greetings The new update is fab - Beth is definitely a "bonnie wee lass". Your comment about taking her everywhere made me smile - I'm glad you take her everywhere - I think she's a wee bit young to be home by herself!!! You two seem to be settling in to the parent thing just great. Congrats again. Amanda xx
Congratulations I just had to put in my wee lil' say too!! (getting pretty Scottish ain't I?) that's after reading your whole blog, thru these days. So just had to tell you how interesting it was, and to congratulate you on your mini-egg Beth. I thoroughly enjoyed my arm-chair travels (sitting in Kuwait) with you and perhaps one day will enjoy sojouring thru Oz and NZ.. yeah someday!!!
All the best and will drop in sometime to check out your future blog.
You made fantastic reading. Thank you.
Hullo!! We did a big fat trip a wee while ago covering Bonnie Scotland (our home), France, Spain, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and China. Then we came home and had a lovely baby girl called Beth and Alan went back to work. Beth is 14 months old now (I know - where does the time go??) and we haven't been anywhere exotic for yonks. Consequently we are now 'dormant bloggers' which makes us feel a bit dreary, so we better get our skates on and find some good places to visit and report on pronto!!.................... full info
