Shorts! The thing about embroidering the shorts is the best thing I've heard in awhile. What happens if their house catches on fire and all the clothes get burned? Is the husband not allowed out until new embroidering on new shorts can be done? What about for formal occasions? Is there a cottage industry of people who sell pre-embroidered shorts for wives who do not like to embroider? I'm pretty sure this would be the only thing I would be able to think about if I was there.
Calendar Correction As far as the Mayan calendar ending, and some say the world, in 2012, we've learned a better interpretation is that the world, and particular the Maya, will enter into a new age in 2012. There is a strong belief that things will change for the Maya but they do not know if that change will be for the better or for the worse.
Masks Please please I hope you bought your good friend Ryan one of those masks. I would wear it all the time.
Looks very pretty out there. Too bad you're missing all the icestorms here in chi-town. I'm not jealous.
Coincidence As I sit here at the Hilton Airport at Boston Logan Airport, gazing at the window at the ancient ruins of a Delta building transposed against the DHL building, all in contrast to the dreary gray sky, I am reminded of the beauty of Cancun and Chiapas. Knowing that our days will be similar as well (you relaxing and drinking margaritas, be chilling and editing press releases), I feel a total connection with you both.
Still Jealous Sucks we couldn't arrange to meet up. I'll be meeting my friend in Argentina in May though, if you guys are still traveling. Glad you guys are still loving it. Did you happen to find any of the zapatista dolls they sell in Chiapas...they are hilarious!
This brings back memories of my honeymoon in Cancun and Isla Mujeres! We loved Isla Mujeres- it was so peaceful and beautiful. The hotel we stayed in - the Secreto- was fabulous. Chichen Itza was amazing too. I remember our tour guide talking non-stop the entire time. I don't remember anything he said, but he said a lot. Say hi to your parents from me!
los parades dave and em - we must take you to the oldest non-motorized parade in the us of a in sun valley - all covered wagons. dave, i think it will vy for a spot as #2.
miss you guys! and can't wait to see you in peru!

Viva la Perro Sin Pelo I am relieved to hear that the revisionist history murals and Aztec ruins have not hindered your ability to find "fair trade" coffee and rare obsedian arrows. God Bless NAFTA.
Emily, I love your detailed descriptions of the colorful gondolas and history - I am really enjoying the posts. And Dave, your patience with the local kids is so great and classicaly you.
Hey, Emily! Aimee B gave me the link to your blog. Good stuff. Looks like you guys are having a blast! I now have another life I can live vicariously through. Take care. JD
toro lento Great to see what y'all are up to. The slow motion effect is cool but is there any way you could post the mechanical bull clip at real speed?
Hola Chilangos! It's so fun to read about your adventures! All my memories of Mexico are flooding back...you're doing so many of the things I did when I was there. Guanajuato was one of my favorite cities. I'm beyond jealous! Keep the blog entries coming so we can all live vicariously. Que les vaya bien!

Movie rights Excellent entry. With a touch more drama thrown in, I swear I could get you a movie deal on the unfolding story. The tragic finale will be when I visit in May and you are nowhere to be seen at the appointed meeting spot in Buenes Aires.
Kids' Comments As always, your blog entries do not disappoint! We love reading them together as a family. Jake pointed out that Uncle Bug looks scary in his serious picture and he also loved the exposed butt cheeks in the photo of Aunt Emily in the foilage. We miss you both and cannot wait to read more of your Latin American Adventures. Love to both of you from all of us.
Hola We found our way to your blog! The cities appear rich in culture and history. It's always a bonus when cities exceed expectations in terms of friendliness, cleanliness, etc.. Well, our exciting news is that it was 70 degrees in Denver today! And just in case you didn't hear, the COLTS, yes, the COLTS won the Super bowl. Take care, Amy (Justin, Addy and baby boy)
I LOVE Diego Rivera-- I'm so glad you're seeing his works. Your blog is great Emily, excellent photos. BTW please let your new compadres know that if you won't feed them in SF there are other options. Are you sure that wasn't a "Lost in Translation" moment? Cheers, Kathleen
