It was interesting to read about the border ceremony from the Pakistani side. It seems to be very similar to the performance on the Indian side, where I was only a couple of months ago (http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/India/Punjab/Amritsar/blog-777544.html). Great fun!
Superb! Amazing john... one always think this countries are so not safe. great to read it's so different. I've just traveled 6 monthes in the far east. amazing experience
Always look over your shoulder. Jon reading your blot was very interesting. Traveling the world is a dream for many people. Pakistan seems so intense and scary. Be safe in all your travels. GOD BLESS
Christine
Gupaw Well written. I would tell you to keep a low profile, but it sounds like the sole purpose of your trip is to do the opposite. You were brave to go, now they should probably let you do your job and stop parading you around like a show horse. Either way, it sounds like you're making the best out of the chaos and will definitely have some good stories to tell when you get back. and yes Vivi will be very happy to see her "gupaw" She has made so many communication strides in the last week- we are basically having back and forth convos now, it's crazy.
Vacation in Pakistan Zero Dark Thirty may or may not have been the best in flight entertainment. I love the part about call us if the guys following you look suspicious. Loved the blog. Looking forward to more of your comments and impressions.
I always look forward to reading about your summer jobs... Pakistan should be very interesting given your initial impressions. Just make sure you notice who is following you! Incidentally, my neighbor owns a company which supplies "security consultants" to places like Pakistan. When he was up for a renewal of his security clearance, we told the interviewer that perhaps he needed anger management classes. So look out for who they send as your cavalry!
Great site highlights of my lovely Island!! Great site guys, you two really highlight our little island Caye Caulker, so beautiful, everything is real and natural, it's here for everyone to come visit and be a part of, come as a tourist and leave as family :) love the site!
That 1 after each of your blogs in the status report was me... I've enjoyed reading every one and look forward to more...hopefully before Lausanne in the summer.

A good friend of Mike Hi Jon,
I sent you a private message, but I don't know if you got it. Mike Jewell and I were very close at one time and his passing, although not totally unexpected, has hit me very hard. I'd been trying to get in touch with him for a couple of yrs now. The last time I talked to him he called me from his mother's on Xmas Day a few yrs ago. I'd appreciate it if you would get in touch with me. I knew something was wrong, but he would never say anything. Please contact me. Thanks
Jon--Thanks for sharing your and Nancy's adventures with us. I feel like I have revisited the stomping grounds of my former life when I was a Grecian player. When I close my eyes, I am there.
Wish I was there!!!! Thanks for the blog, John, it has so made me want to travel some more before "real" old age sets in. Your humorous style of writing has made it so much more enjoyable. Love the pictures too. Switzerland is my favorite country so far and it was so much fun revisiting it through your blogs. Tell Nancy "Hi" and keep up the blogging.

I officially started my travel addiction during a Fulbright year in Zimbabwe back in 1991. Since then I've had a number of visiting professor gigs in interesting places. In a good year I'm able to squeeze in two or three trips. Sometimes I feel like I could simply not return and spend the rest of my life living out of my suitcase.

Soon you'll need a larger car. Love reading about the rituals and rules. Fantastic stuff. Can't wait to read more.
