Singapore? I didn't know the CIA had agents in Singapore!
I took a ride with a woman a few years ago, she went to high school with the guy who got whipped for littering, and thought it a good thing. Then they sent a couple of computer geeks to spend two months in Bloomington, to study what we did [the computer mechanics, not the scientists]. Your post inspired me, I made a Sling for Rosemary. She still likes a gin & tonic better. Old school. Your friends from Marin, Howard and Kathy??? - have you heard from them?
Dubai I'm now based in Dubai, so if you are ever passing this way again, please let me know as I may be in the city inbetween my frequent travels elsewhere! It would be great to share stories about the romance of travel and adventure.
I wish I had known that. Last I heard you were in KL, I think. You are my travel blog hero. I would love to meet you sometime. Please look me up if you're ever in San Francisco
I am going to murder you with a knife

attention spooks Dear Claire@hotmail.co.uk,
I decided to post your informative comment. I figure this is probably the quickest way to bring it to the attention of MI6 and NSA.
The joys of Florida Breaking and entering...you've become a true Floridian, just kidding. Sounds like you had a great visit. We like Ft. Myers. Hope you made it to the Edison Home. It is lovely. If not you'll have a reason to go back.
Hurray! I so miss your blogging and writing, but especially your humor! Pictures are great too! Glad you two are well, sorry to hear and see Jan in the pics.
Hey, my uncle Gene lived in Fort Meyer, how come we never figured that out until now?

Hi there, worked with Mike years ago Hi there,
I worked with Mike years ago, mostly in the 90's. Cannot over emphasis how well loved Mike was, and Venice, in those days, when it was a rough but somehow tender town. I was a waiter for ages and Mike was my boss. I wrote the following on an obit message board.
"Mike was one of the managers at the Sidewalk Cafe in Venice, CA when I worked there in years past. He was kind and generous and possessed a fantastic laugh and a pretty fine singing voice too.
He swam everyday in the Pacific Ocean, a half block from where he lived.
And he embodied all the best of that 1970's West Coast feeling. He was a free spirit and always had a good word to say about someone. A sweeter person I have yet to meet."
True he withdrew completely in later year, which was heartbreaking, but that is not the Mike we all knew and enjoyed. Thanks for posting your thoughts as well as the pics. You mentioned how you admired Mike's not being dominated by ambition. Very astute and honorable description.
Sincerely,
Ken Brady

Severed hand story It's only a couple of paragraphs long (I only had 7 minute to write it). Here's a link:

I'm glad you haven't changed your writing... after this experience. I guess spending $800 was worth the opportunity to observe "jive shit" in person. I'm pretty sure your works will never be published in The Sun...just keep writing here.
The worm has turned Sounds as as if your magical moment came at the end when you let your cynical, true self have some fun. I've always wanted to go to Eselen, but the only way I could afford it would be to be one of those long-suffering servers. Thanks for sharing what $800 can buy.
Perfect description and pictures of a fabulous place! I am so pleased you two finally got to discover this gem! Although I agree, the postage stamp rooms are pitiful, but the experience is so lovely. Glad the weather was decent also!
The Badshahi mosque at Lahore in Punjab District, Pakistan is the world\'s fifth largest mosque and the mosque with the largest mosque courtyard. American Computer Professor/Chair to be sent over there.
I officially started my travel addiction during a Fulbright year in Zimbabwe back in 1991. Since then I've had a number of visiting professor gigs in interesting places. In a good year I'm able to squeeze in two or three trips. Sometimes I feel like I could simply not return and spend the rest of my life living out of my suitcase.

Hopefully you didn't have a few Singapore Slings which caused you to purchase this suit. Happy travels.
