Starting this blog a bit back to front today, with today, in Bangkok. Just wrote a whole long intro to this blog and then the computer stuck and I lost the lot. :-(( Firstly, I am really grateful to Mike, my travelling companion over the last week (more later), for this blog entry still having photos, as my camera was lost/stolen in Jaisalmer (more later). A friend of mine emailed me recently saying she was really enjoying my blogs but couldn't tell whether or not I'm having a good time!!! Think I may have overdone it on the 'Indian chaos' stories - it's just too tempting not to describe them in all their insane glory! - but to anyone else in doubt, yes, I am having a really good time. 7 weeks to go in India and I'm still down in Tamil Nadu, having procrastinated on booking my train ticket to Varanasi and then not being able to get on a train for 10 days. I caught a train to Chennai on 29 Jan. I would have thought I'd got used to the fact that normally in India the beginnings and ends of journeys (and often the middle) are full of drama, but I arrived hopefully on the platform anticipating it might be straightforward.
