In the beginning of July, I did a big trip across the northern part of Australia from Broome to Darwin, over 1500 miles in 9 days. I did the trip with a tour group. We camped all the nights with three of them at bush camps with no facilities. The trip started out in Broome with a visit to the famous Cable beach for sunset. The north certainly has some of the best sunsets I have ever seen. I also was able to take in a movie at the oldest outdoor theater. Think of the old drive in but with lawn [View Full Entry]

Hi everybody, I know it has been a while since I wrote anything. I have just been swamped...more to come on the recent adventures soon. I just had to quickly share with all of you what I woke up to yesterday. Some were calling it Armageddon! It is very odd to wake up to an orange glow. It cleared by the afternoon. Crazy. Thanks to a birthday gift from Mom and Dad :-) I spent the first week in January learning to dive on the Great Barrier Reef! I can't imagine a better way to do it. The first two days were spent at a dive center in Cairns learning technique and taking tests. This is the wet season for Cairns, so the weather is usually pretty bad. Thankfully the first two days were sunny. Pool diving would have really sucked in thunderstorms. The training and tests went well and everyone in the class was heading for the reef. Wednesday morning started off really [View Full Entry]

I just do not know where the time goes. At the beginning of December, I had been in Australia for 6 months and it felt like I just got here. Two years will certainly fly. The beginning of December also brought with it the start of summer and Christmas shopping. Certainly a little odd to be Christmas shopping in shorts and a t-shirt. Very hard to get into the Christmas mood. I would expected Santa to be in a Hawaiian shirt and shorts, but instead you had fake snow and Santa in his usual outfit. He must have been really hot [View Full Entry]

So I started this entry on my flight to the US earlier this month, but somehow the month got away from me. I was in Vietnam most of November for work. I spent all of my time in or around Saigon, or Ho Chi Minh City as it is officially called now. Saigon is certainly an experience and definitely a stop to make in an overall Asia stop. I didn't make it to the North, but I hear it is beautiful. To give you a little bit of a background the 1 US dollar will get you 15,000 Vietnam dong and [View Full Entry]

Wow so it has been a busy couple of months! I really don't know where the time has gone. Back in August, I headed to Auckland, New Zealand for two weeks with work. Honest, I did work. The two weeks went by quickly. Unfortunately, it was cold and rained every single day, but fun was still to be had. A co-worker and I headed for Mt Ruapehu for a little weekend skiing and relaxation. It was a four hour drive on highways in New Zealand, or so I thought. Turns out that highways in New Zealand are actually two lane country [View Full Entry]

So I decided to give blogging a try because what fun are pictures without the stories to go with them! This first one is a little bit of a recap of the last couple of months. Enjoy. May Well I finally arrive in Sydney. The flight was pretty uneventful. I highly recommend Qantas (even with their current flight issues). Free alcohol and food and even real silverware! (Yes, they even give free WATER!!! - US Air.) Next on the list was making it through immigration and customs with my piles of luggage. All US flights arrive in Sydney within 30mins of [View Full Entry]
