Wave Rock was fantastic, absolutely spectacular. It was so high and curled over like a really huge wave in the ocean. We all tried to climb up the wave as far as we could go with most of us sliding back down on our bottoms lol. The guys started competing who could run up and touch the highest spot they could lol. Not sure who ended up winning in the end. We then climbed up some stairs to the top of the wave, the rock was massive. We walked around seeing different things on top including large balancing boulders, a rock shaped like a lounge chair and a sandlewood tree. We then went down from the rock and followed a path to see hippo's yawn, which was a rock and cave that looked like a hippo ... read more

After leaving Bunbury we traveled towards Fremantle/Perth, stopping on the way at Mandurah. Mandurah is similar to Sunshine Coast. They have built lots of canals and the very rich have built their mansions and their elaborate apartment blocks on the canals. There was one really huge mansion that was built by a millionaire for his holiday house a number of years ago, but has only stayed in it for a total of 2 weeks, some people just have way too much money lol. Along the beginning of the canals is some very small very old cottages that are worth about 1.6 mil each. We went on a dolphin/canal cruise that took us through the canals and through the new area called little Venice because it had little tiny bridges over the canal. We were lucky it ... read more

After leaving Augusta we traveled along Caves Road towards Margaret River. Along this road and around this region are over 200 caves hidden within the Limestone ridge, thus the name Caves Road. We stopped at Jewel Cave and did a tour. The cave once had an underground lake and the water and made the formations appear to glitter like jewels. The cave last had water in it around 9 years ago. The day was very rainy so we decided to go as far as Margaret River and stay there the night. Around Margaret River is beautiful country with wineries everywhere, green rolling hills with cows. I really liked the country but the town didn't overly impress me. The next morning we did the touristy thing and went to a cheese factory where we all tried some ... read more

We are in Augusta the most South Western town in Australia, its about 30k south of Margaret River. The last 3 days have been beautiful, warm and sunshine but this morning we have woken up to the wind and rain again. We have been traveling through big tree country since we left Albany, passing through Denmark, Walpole and Pemberton. Many of the trees are over 400 years old and huge. The trees were mostly tingles and Karri trees which are both eucalypt trees. The Tingles as they get older get really large at the base of the trunk and then with bush fire damage causes them to hollow out, but the tree stays living. Some of the hollowed out trunks are huge and many people can stand inside. Near Denmark we went to an Alpaca Stud ... read more

This is our fourth night in Albany, we decided to stay 4 as the caravan park gave us a deal to pay for 3 and stay 4 nights, and as there is so much to see here we decided to take the deal. The first couple of days and nights in Albany were very very wet, with rain, hail and lots of wind. We figured we were actually experiencing Albany's proper winter, I am just soooo glad we didn't tent again this year!! On the first day we went to see Whale World, which is an ex whaling station that closed in 1978, having been the last one to close in Australia. While there we learned about the whaling history of the area, and saw where they brought theminto the station and how they cut them ... read more

Tonight we are at Albany WA. We haven't looked around too much as we only arrived late this afternoon. The caravan park we are staying in is quite nice but quite expensive. Oh well we have stayed in alot of free camping spots, its nice to splash out now and then :). It has been raining off and on for most of the afternoon and then some hail tonight. A lady at the information centre told us Perth has been hammered by high winds and we are expected to get them sometime during the night ........ she said they were 125k an hour!! After finishing the Nullabor we drove on to Esperance. I loved it. The town was built on a bay which is surrounded by Islands (Called the Bay of Islands). The bay was quite ... read more

Its been about 3 days since I have had internet or phone as we have just crossed the Nullarbor from SA to WA. We are now in Esperance. There were many interesting things to see while crossing the Nullarbor and it was definitly not anything like Nathan and I imagined. For one thing there had been rain so it was mostly green, and not desert like we thought it would be. The Nullarbor plain is massive area of limestone rock where no trees will grow. Underneath the rock are many caves and river/lakes. We were going to stop at some caves and go in but weren't able to find the road to them, we did happen to see a blow hole though, which is a hole down into the rock for the caves to breath. When ... read more

We have left Adelaide and traveled north through Port Augusta, then back down south onto the Eyre Peninsula. We stayed at a rest stop on the side of the road. The Camps Australia has more than made up for the cost of it with only having to have paid for a couple of nights camping since we left. The next morning we drove through quite desolate, barren land through Whyalla which is a steel city, there is sheds, mines, factories etc all run by Onesteel (who my dad works for) everywhere. There is also alot of army barracks and army training areas around this area. We continued on down the Peninsula finally arriving at Port Lincoln in the early afternoon. Port Lincoln was quite pretty and seemed very quiet. As it was still quite early we ... read more

Hi again, We are tonight somewhere between Port Augusta and Port Lincoln in South Australia, its very deserty looking. We are staying at a free camping spot that is quite near the Army training area, which seems to be huge. The last 3 nights we stayed in Adelaide at a caravan park on the ocean at Semaphore (spelled something like that, oh and please forgive my spelling, I am usually in a rush and this site does not put red lines under words spelled wrong, nor does it have spell check). Adelaide was quite nice very historic with old sandstone buildings and houses, and beautiful little historic suburbs/towns in the Adelaide hills which look very Englishy. The caravan park was quite nice, there were little bunnies running around of different colours there was black ones, white ... read more

Tonight we are camped just outside of Robe in SA. I can't say what its like yet, as we won't go there till tomorrow, I'll keep you posted. Well where was I up to, I think my last blog was from Halls Gap which was really beautiful. We went on a few walks to see some waterfalls, which was great as they haven't run in awhile, but most of western Victoria seems to have been getting regular rain lately, just not enough to fill dams yet. We went to Boroka look out and to the car park up top of Mount William but as seen in the picture the view was only fog and low clouds, so we didn't get to see the spectacular views promised in the brochure! Oh well just means we will have ... read more
