Why Hallo there! This last week Dan and I spent the week travelling to Ireland with a group of kayakers from London. We convoyed in two cars and with walkie talkies proving lots of fun. We made our way to Strandhill, on the ocean from Sligo. Unfortunately for us hurricane Katia was leaving America and heading directly our way. We made our way down to Easky, famous for good surf where we pitched our tents on a cliff under the old Roslee Castle! Huge winds drove us out after two nights of horrible sleep and two days of paddelling. One sight on my list was to visit Grandad's home where he lived before he shipped to NZ. We hired a car and found Cartronamarky Lane in County Longford amongst some beautiful lake country. The old house ... read more

We have been back in the UK now for a week. Had an awesome three months travelling around Europe and met some really super people. Now the rough plan is to put Kirbit on Ebay and head towards Scotland and Ireland for sightseeing before we have to head back out to Heathrow. Here are a few pics from our latest drive down to Cornwall for some kiting with Vince (who we met in Tarifa, Spain)... read more

So folks, interesting week in Germany. We drove from Switzerland towards Stuttgart where Ina and Noel, friends from Uni were staying on holiday. Spent two nights at Ina's parents enjoying huge amounts of food then had to leave or we would be rolling home. Next stop Amsterdam. Noel came with us for a road trip...but we made it to Duisburg when Dan heard a rumbling noise from the front passenger tyre. He knows when something isn't right and got us off the autobarn ASAP. Unfortunatly for us it was a Saturday afternoon ad everything was shut! Hung around and explored the imediate area untill Monday where we found a Turkish Mechanic who aggreed to help us. Lucky for us it is Ramadan at the moment and part of the religion is that you dont refuse anyone ... read more

Our journey from Slovenia found us crossing four countries in one day. Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein and Switzerland. We were headed to Zug, a small town that has a lovely atmosphere and amazing cars. Here we meet up with Daniel Gruber, the Coreban distributor for Europe (paddle boards) and his wife Tanya who showed us amazing hospitality. We were cooked for every night and tried a cheesy fondue and cherry schnapps. Paddle boarding everyday reminded us how much we miss it. Time to move and we visited some guys we meet in the South of France who are located near Basel. 1st August was Swiss National Day and we celebrated by watching fireworks on the bank of the Rhine in Basel with Jorg Gisin. Jorg's parents also had us over for raclette, another cheese dish, Dan can ... read more

So now we are in Austria! have had a few issues getting to internet cafes but were here now. Since Venice we have made our way to Slovenia where we went to Lake Bled and hired a row boat to get ourselves to the church in the center of the turquoise water. Was a lovely drive from Italy with the mountains around capped with snow. Loved Bled but have moved onwards and upwards heading in the direction of Zug, Switzerland. Enjoy the pics, they say thing better than I. Love... read more

Bonjour, What an interesting last few days we had in Spain. On our way heading to France Kirbit had wee issues with losing his breaks and power-steering as we entered the motorway! Dans awesome creative driving came in handy as he navigated us off the road and into a small farm road where he popped the hood and diagnosed the problem…shredded fan belt that popped the other belts off as well. Managed to get us to the nearest Peugeot centre and they could fix it in 8 days. I had a little melt down and cried…because it’s the end of the earth and everything! Next morning as I slept-in, Dan biked down the road and brought one from a store. Very thoughtful as I still wasn’t dealing very well. We parked under a bridge where Dan ... read more

Hola folks, This is an update from our last 9 days in Tarifa, South Spain. For those of you who don’t know Tarifa is the mecca for windsurfing and kitesurfing as both the headlands from Spain and Morocco (only 14km away) create a funnel for the wind to howl through. This has been ‘THE place to be’ for windsurfers for the last 25years and we meet plenty of men in their late 50s who have been visiting every summer. There are generally two types of wind directions in Tarifa Levante and Poinente. We had a two days of Levante, Dan got grumpy as even though it meant putting up his 9m kite (small one), the ocean was very choppy (can’t go fast, pull jumps and you get choppy water in your face). Also having about 100 ... read more

The delay in posting another blog has been because we didn't buy a sim card for your phone in Portugal. This usually gives us a certain amount of data that we use on internet. Portugal has really turned it on. The Portuguese are very friendly people and no one cares where you park for the night. Our days have passed along many white sandy beaches with crystal clear water. Dan has been having a few kites along various lagoons and surf beaches. Makes us very regretfull that we couldn't buy paddleboards as that would be stella...not that they would fit in the van. Started in Porto where on our first night there was a festival 400m along the street with traditional portuguese dancing, churros and fireworks, really nice suprise. We have since made our way down ... read more

It has been a while and I'm sorry for that. Internet connections in France are crappy to say the least. We did manage to find a way of parking in McDonalds carparks and using their free Wifi, so got a few Facebook posts out. We have just had 8 days travelling down through the west coast of France from Dunkirk down to Biarritz. It was darn cold up the north...even compared to England so I was happy to start our way towards Spain where I knew it was warmer. We came across numerous towns which looked like they would be really neat in summer but were complete ghost towns with nothing open! really weird actually. We got as far as La Rochelle before we spent more that one night in one spot. Here Dan got a ... read more
