Wow - now that was an adventure ... ...
Loved reading your blog and your journey - safe travels in Armenia.

The hills are alive...
Another set of beautiful photos! I love that you got amongst it with the local food - our favourite way to experience a place is to eat what the locals eat, regardless of what those 'Foodies' think :)

The hills are alive....
Thanks for reading and commenting. The foods were good. We had a couple of people on the trip complaining about it but we ignored them as needed. These were kind and generous people and they shared every thing they had. It was a wonderful adventure. Flexibility is the key to travel. Otherwise you might as well stay home or go to a tourist resort. Nothing wrong with that if that is the experience you are looking for as I've done it myself. Tajik and Kyrg are amazing and well worth the effort.

There is never a dull moment on your trips is there? I love it. From sleeping on the floor (only 1 night) to sketchy border crossings you two make travel an adventure. Was fun seeing your pics and reading about a place I probably won't visit.

Never a dull moment
We would not have made this journey without Shane. He is a fantastic tour leader. We were thrilled to have beds all those nights but one.... although the night on the floor was comfy. It was a travel adventure and we have more stories to tell when we see you in October.

Then there was the music
So many tales, so many exhilarating moments, so many mountains, so many moments to savour, so many laughs and grins, so many fabulous memories, traveling with dear friends old and new...dancing by the side of the road...listening to the Blues. How can you choose which of the thousands of pics and stories you can share to capture the vibe in a blog? What a fantastic time we had. Enjoyed the tastes in this blog. Reminds one that we had quite an adventure...reminds one that this is one of the great roadtrips of the World...not for everyone...but for those that do...fantastic! Miss you guys.

Then there was the music
I almost posted a photo of Shane dancing next to the car but I'm holding back on that one. That is only for those of us who had the joyful experience of traveling with Shane. We agree it is one of the great road trip of the World and we are happy to have shared it with you. Miss you guys.

Simply great!
It's my kind of nomadic journey! Loved it. Yes tire repair in twenty minutes...amazing. And true, don't mess with the military. I still have to catch up with your early two blogs...falling behind MJ...

Simply great!
We will await your blogs. I know you can catch up. You must look into this trip. No reason to give foreign military any hassle....just move on.

Horse Festival
Wow, what a wonderful opportunity to have been able to attend their annual Horse Festival. Great to hear the people were so welcoming, and happy for pictures to be taken too - you certainly have some amazing and unique photos here :) I wasn't fortunate enough to have known Tara, but a beautiful gesture to have left her travelling scarf with a fellow animal-lover in Tajikistan. Lovely blog :)

Horse Festival
Alex, it is always grand when you are in town for a festival. The people in Central Asia are warm and welcoming. We didn't meet Tara, we had actually planned on that next year but that didn't work out. We sent email and FB messages and felt like we knew her a bit. I think she'd be happy with where her scarf ended up. Hopefully, you'll consider this trip. I think you would enjoy it. MJ

A different world!
Looks like an interesting part of the world; fascinating culture and people with beautiful rugged landscape and events like this horse festival to enjoy!

A different world
Hem, you may want to consider this location for one of your trips. You are an extraordinary photographer and this place calls for your talents. So much beauty. It is indescribable. As you say, rugged.

Truly an amazing race
I am so glad you were not only able to go to the races, but that you found someone for Tara's scarf. Being remembered in such a way is amazing. Glad you enjoyed yourself and looking forward to more.

Truly an amazing race
Tara will be remembered by so many of us travel bloggers. We enjoyed the festival and it was the right place and time. What a trip. An adventure. Something very special about this trip.

Together Again!
Seeing you, Dave, Dave and the Travel Camel back together takes us back to the days when we first joined Travelblog! You guys were some of the first blogs we started following. How far everyone has come. It's was nice to follow along with your adventure. What an interesting place so far off the beaten path. I don't know if this is a country we will ever get to, but I'm glad we got to go along with you guys! Looking forward to the rest of your trip!

Together again
Always good to get together with the Dancing Ones and meeting Shane was great. The Pamir Mountains are extraordinary. They leave me speechless. It is the road less traveled. Thanks for reading and commenting.

I am not jealous
I am not jealous. I am not jealous. Really, really not jealous! Please keep sharing and hello to Shane, Dave and Denise.

I am not jealous
Hellos from you to our Travel blog team. The next story might make you laugh and show what a small world we are living in. The festival really show cased the sports abilities. After being house bound due to snow all those months a year an event like this is a big deal and well attended. Many wore really nice clothes. It was lovely, lively and colorful.

Beautiful photos of beautiful horses
The festival photos are so captivating, I'll have to talk to you when you get back home about which of your two cameras you used (still deciding on the new camera). From these photos, it seems like the festival is more about the blokes than the horses....and looks like blokes will be blokes no matter which corner of the world we go to ;)

Beautiful horses beautiful photos
We really enjoyed all the festival activities. The winners of most races won a heater and 40 gallons of propane for the family. When you are snowed in 8 months a year a heat source is a good prize. We can talk later about cameras.
