Sounds like an adventure
Sounds like you had a bit of an adventure going to Nevis. We have also had hotel accomodations cancelled with short notice and know exactly how it feels. But it sure looks nice there so I'd love to go there myself one day. /Ake

Our Ferry
Sometimes the ferry ride is the highlight of a trip. Glad you got a photo of yours just in case!

Our Ferry
We do love a ferry ride. It is always good being in the islands.

The Windy City
So politicians were full of hot air and prone to getting locked up even a couple of centuries ago. Clearly nothing's changed!

The Windy City
No changes with politicians. It gives us plenty to talk about.

Small islands
Thank you for taking your readers on this journey with you. I had no idea how small St. Kitts and Nevis are. Good that you were able to relax for a bit.

Small Islands
Thanks for reading and commenting. They are relaxing islands. Hiking can be found if you want but the water sports abound. I knew these islands would be small but I was surprised how small.

St Kitts
I really need to do a Caribbean trip I think. So many islands, so unique and distinct from each other. St Kitts seems slightly more happening than Nevis, although still a chill place to spend some time. Glad you were able to get some down time in after Dave's last assignment. It seems a trip that perfectly combined rest time, friend time, food time, and a bit of adventurous exploring on the side. Not to mention not just one, but now two, more TCC locations to tick off!

St. Kitts
I believe you will enjoy the Caribbean. Each island has a different feel and personality. We've been to 17 Caribbean Islands and have enjoyed all of them. I do wish they had a better ferry system and flights between all of the islands. Most flights are expensive.

Nevis
Wow, what a place! Very much an off-the-beaten track Caribbean location it seems. The start would have caused quite a bit of stress for me too - you look so happy in the sunset ferry pictures as you finally get on your way to Nevis. What a relief! Turns out you also got your gem of an accommodation in the end, although poor service for VRBO not to have told you about the cancellation sooner. It seems that all turned out well in the end anyway, and Nevis seems quite the charmer.

Nevis
I"m disappointed with VRBO but things worked out well. We were very happy once we were on the ferry and the ferry ride was a delight. IT is a nice island.

Just reading about your adventure was frustrating! Fortunately it all turned out well.

Pays to persevere!
It was frustrating and as you say all turned out well. The ferry ride to Nevis and the return was one of our favorite things to do. The sun was setting on our way and the sky was beautiful. Thanks for reading and commenting.

It sounds like quite an adventure to find the right ferry...
I have reached that point in life where I avoid such adventures if at all possible!

It sounds like an adventure to find the right ferry
We discussed this at length, more than necessary after the fact. It would seem the car rental companies could easily give you a sheet of paper with the 2 ferry locations and the times they leave. That would be extremely helpful. It didn't help that they sent us to the closest one rather than the one we asked for... signage was not good.

Covered bridges
Not sure I've ever seen any of these anywhere. I guess my first question is why they built them like that? A bit of temporary shelter I guess. They look very cute.

Covered Bridges
They used to cover them to protect the bridge's trusses and decks from snow and rain which slowed the decay and rot.

Baseball
Sounds very much like it's in the blood. Cricket's in my blood, but I think it would be just so foreign to anyone who didn't grow up with it, and to try to explain it to the uninitiated???? No chance. Sounds like you had a great time!

Baseball
Dave has been a baseball fan since he was a child. I came to enjoy the game after I married him. We were in Barbados thirty years ago when someone tried to explain cricket to us.... after an hour and a half our eyes glazed over. We enjoy sports when we travel.

Chicago
I have been to Chicago twice, very briefly. This summary gave me a taste of the things I did not get to do.
