After a pleasant relaxing stroll around the Louvre on a friday evening (for those under 26, entry to the Louvre is free on Fridays after 6PM), take a nice walk along the Seine towards the Notre Dame for about 10 minutes, you would have worked your appetite up by then. Well, just about then, to your right, you'll see a populated, well-lit alleyway with street musicians on the corner (if you must have it, the area is named Quartier Latin), possibly singing a song about your hometown; a musician was performing 'Californication' by Red Hot Chili Peppers at the time of my visit. Surprisingly, despite its dismal cynicism towards life in socal conveyed in lyrics, it actually makes you a little sour inside from homesickness.
