haha.. 13 months of sunshine! yah.. ethiopia has 13 months of sunshine.. but sometimes got rainy seasons.. saw a lot of fallen trees and fallen rocks/soil due to soil erosion the nextr day.. saw a bus overturned by the fallen rocks.. they dun practice terrace farming on slopes.. so.. bad soil erosion..
french gals! Actually a better idea would be to invite the french gals to go back and sleep on the bed that Brad Pitt slept on... only this time, WITH YOU!!!
yah.. i've been thinking about this these couple of days.. was talking to one of the artists in lalibela.. he said that they are not rich.. maybe recovering from poverty.. but many still poor.. so they hope the tourists can complement their income.. i've been thinking maybe i'm too ghiam.. like tonight's accomodation at Dessie (quite big university city).. i haggle 5 birrs for long time for the room.. haha.. 8.8birr=1USD.. but 5 birr out of 25 birrs is 20%.. maybe should be a bit less stoistic..
... or KNN in short!!! Looking forward to your next update bro. Well, sometimes its ok to pay a slight premium versus the locals and opefully they will treat you better. Like our Singapore Girls always offer better service to the angmohs. Eh, but we pay the same price, don't we? KNN, you got what I mean.
What happened to Dave? What happened to Dave? Thought you were still with him at that hotel which you had to put up a hammock? You two parts ways already? For good?
While you were half a world away... While you were half a world away, I thought I'd be nice enough to share some recent happenings at what I presume would be your newly adopted "home" country:

Looks like we've better to start planning diversifications soon. Maybe I should start a business to collect those abandoned APCs and tanks in Ethiopia for the scrap metal or recycling business.
Recycling should be big business now that our resources are sucked dry faster than we can say "60%"
Or if you prefer a comic break, http://www.insanepoly.com
Maybe you could put all that travelling to good use and locate one of those nice round hut in Ethiopia for me? Hah hah hah hah..
haha, will let dad knows you shot some birds for him ... Saw the lake on the map, I can imagine how great the views are, I love the Xihu, looking forward to the photos. And I hope Dave gets well soon.
Aiyoh.. postdated entry mah.. catching up on my entries.. gradually... maybe I should put a [POST ENTRY] (??? right word?) at the top of these post entries.. (???)
good luck bro ... and no worry about the momobay, you can still get from Sim Lim; and no worry about the photos, you can still go Africa, it will be nearer next time, and hopefully with a different passport then.
sadly no.. but looking on the bright side.. at least i lost only 2 days worth of photos in Cairo.. which is easily accessible.. if necessary.. and i may get frequent opportunities to go Cairo in future.. oh well.. lesson learnt.. be more CAREFUL in the future!! Check your things!! Dun be so absent minded!! =/
Sudan is big Sudan is big.. and most of its land is safe.. Darfur, which is in the west is the most dangerous.. so dun go there.. the civil war in the south has eased up.. it is actually safe to travel there now... but not many tourist facilities like hotels and internet cafes etc..
Next trip here.. (when? hehe) I'm thinking of going to Kassala (East) and check out the South (they say it's beautiful)... anyone on? =) Nothing in the north except deserts and sand..
Actually got chance... but didn't... at least for the first two days.. have not taken shower since getting on the ferry.. and bag was comfortably packed. lazy to take things out.. until 5th day then a bit buey tahan.. Dave has a portable shower head where you can hang and load water on top.. subsequent days showering from water straight from the Nile at some of the Sudanese families..
To travel in Sudan, you have to be prepared to be constantly covered in layers of sand/dirt.. so dun bother to keep yourself clean.. ;p shower to cool down..
Ah...heehee!!! Ah...heehee!!! Your life sound very eventful ah...very exciting!!! Our life here also suddenly more...hehehe....get update from Wenjie
Hold those crazy horses!!!
Which Sudan...? After reading your blog, I am full of admiration for you.
However, it brings to mind the recent troubles in Sudan so widely publicized in the media of late.
See today's edition of CNN: http://edition.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/africa/04/02/darfur.killing.reut/index.html
So... I'm just wondering how many Sudans are there (maybe got north and south or east and west, me no sure).
Whatever it is, please take care in your travels. War (and carnage) is the last thing you'd want to see.
Travel far, travel wide, travel SAFE.
Very impressive! Whao... when you told me you were going on a "Africa On A Shoe-string Tour", I thought it was to be a arranged tour but seems like you stuck to your impromptu roots well.
Damned, if the experience you accumulated in your trip, I don't see what's there to stop you from winning the next season of Amazing Race Asia.
Johan johan all the wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
