So News Years day was a pretty unexciting day, we were all hugely hungover, leaving the boys and embarking on an 8 hour drive. The countryside changed again and we soon encountered huge forests and hills, and as per usual, stunning views. Otherwise the drive was pretty non consequential. We drove other the bridge where Nat and Duncan were later going to Bungy off - the Bloukans Bridge. It was ridiculously high off the ground, and sent my tummy lurching at the thought of throwing myself off it for fun...Not for me! We arrived at our hostel, after driving around Plettenbergbai for ages trying to find out where the place was. It was a funny looking place, rather run down. We then found out that we were in fact camping one night and sleeping in the ... read more

So, OxBraai....I don't really know where to start! So we arrive in the village closest to OxBraai, our cars full of enough food and alcohol to make plenty of friends; with no idea where to go next. Duncan's memory of OxBraai is somewhat faint. So after asking a man standing next to a sign 'OxBraai 2010' who informed us he had no idea where it was, an eavesdropper pointed us in the right direction. We then came to our next problem: how an earth were we to find the boys in a field filled with people and cars? and when we were to find them, how an earth were we going to find them? You can imagine how the story continued...we found them in pretty speedy timing, and they had even managed to save us a ... read more

I am sorry that I have not written, internet is a tricky thing to find on a road trip! We had a lovely Christmas day at Duncan's house. We had a Braai for Christmas lunch and played lots of games. Although I was banned from Monopoly for being too competitive. On Boxing day we went to Durban to watch the test cricket. We arrived at 10.30am and tucked straight into the beer! Unfortunately we did not watch too much cricket, as we had rather awkward seats. However we were kept up with the score with Hugo and Rhys screeching every 10 minutes or so! That day we met lots more of Duncan's friends, nine of whom were to continue on with us on our road trip: Beaver Etienne Rhys Gareth Greg Gordy Matt little Matt and ... read more

We arrived in St Lucia, and were shocked to see human life! We had an exciting journey there, as we tried to take a short cut, but it was definately longer! We turned down a dirt track, and went up and over a mountain, which as you can imagine was a bit of a struggle with all of us, rucksacs and a trailer! That evening we had our first meal out, and went to a fish restaurant called 'Ocean Basket', which was scrummy! Afterwards, in true Bristol style we went to a club called Monkey Lounge! We had a great time, although the DJ was rather shocking and kept remixing amazing songs - like Bonnie Tyler, Hero! So just as we got to our favourite bit and were readying ourselves for a real belter, the bloody ... read more

So I left you as we reached the Kruger gates. We drove through to our camp, which was about an hours drive. We saw wilderbeest, zebra, impala, buffalo and an elephant on our way - pretty cool!!! For the first couple of nights we stayed at Satara camp, and then we moved to Berg - en - dal for two nights. As well as the ten of us, two of Duncans South African friends joined us, Nick and Rich. They were very useful, especially Nick as he comes to Kruger twice a year and he had trained as a ranger. That night we had another Braai. Steak two nights in a row was something we could all definately get used to! Especially as the meat over her is seriously yummy! That night we had our first ... read more

So Here I am in South Africa with ten of my greatest friends : Duncan (the South African) Tom Ollie Hugo Amelia Nat Eddie Emily Gussy and of course myself! We flew on the 12th december, and arrived on the 13th - a horrendously long and dull journey, thatnk go dfor the extensive film collection! We trundled off to Gatwick Airport after my mother had cooked gussy, meals, nat and I a last meal (with champagne included!) to help us on our way! We had to be at the airport at 6.30am, so arriving ratehr late we were shocked to discover that we were the first one's there! Finally Duncan and Hugo turned up. However, there was no Tom. Duncan told us that he had left his passport at home so had rushed back to get ... read more
