Leaving Russell was so rubbish! I really didn't want to leave in the end and I would have been happy to stay another few weeks at least. I ended up making some really awesome friends in the last month and went out partying a lot more than I had done before but my flight to the south island was already booked and that was that. It was like leaving home all over again and now I'm home sick for Russell as well as Edinburgh! On a positive note though, I managed to be ruthless with my stuff and my backpack is much more managable now! In Auckland I was staying at Amie, Steph, Louis and Anthonys flat for the week so that was great - no hostles yet! They were working most of the time but ... read more

Well, it's been quite a while since I blogged so thought I should, plus I'm moving ons soon so wanted to fill you in on everything that I've been up to in Russell in the past month or so. SInce I last updated this I changed jobs again! For the past 4 or 5 weeks I've been working at the 'front 4square' which is a little supermarket shop on the waterfront and it's been a total laugh. Ella sorted me out with the job, if I hadn't got it i would have had to leave Russell sooner cause I would have just spent all the money I'd saved up. Anyway, since I've been working at the 4sq it's been awesome in Russell and really all I've done is worked, beached it and gone out - what ... read more

Well, it’s been quite a while since my last blog and a hell of a lot has happened! That means this is going to be a mammoth blog so I suggest taking a few attempts (I‘ve even broken it into chunks so it‘s easier…), anyway, for those of you short of time (or who know how boring this could be) here is a brief summary of what‘s been going on: Christmas and New Year was spent working but I managed to get a bit of partying in too. Felt quite home sick though. New Years day I got offered a new place to stay and so took the opportunity to quit my job at the Thai. I left my job and my house and I moved into my new place with Bex and Jay and started ... read more

Hey! Haven't posted in a while I know. I was just going to tell you about my average day in Russell but I'll save that for now (aren't you gutted...), since I had a bit of a mad day on my day off on Sunday; So it all began on Saturday night at work... Haha! But really it did. Couple of chaps who know my boss came in for a few drinks and turns out one of them is a multi-millionair and the other is like his shadow a bit like a really un-cool batman and robin... Anyway, they were chatting away to us and then the millionaire - Mike - is origianlly from England so he was like 'where are you from', etc etc! So they said they would take me fishing next time I ... read more

Hey, first I appologise for the awful wave at the end of the video, awful! Anyway, this is where I'm living for the next few months hopefully. It's a small town called Russell in the north of NZ, a few hundered km north of Auckland. Not got a massive population but once the summer hits there will be a big boom. I decided to take the job at the Thai restaurant, I feel like for the last few weeks all I have done is spend money and I reallised that I really needed to start making some money if I'm going to have anything left for my travels after NZ. There's not an awful lot to do in Russell except get out and about and get down to the beach so I should be able to ... read more

Hey! Just want to do a quick post about our day trip to the top of New Zealand before I do a blog about the rest of what's been happening with me! So on Saturday just past we got the bus at 7am to do the tour of pretty much the whole of Northland, our bus was actually a lorry, modified to get people on like a bus. It needed to be a truck cause the route is on a lot of rubbish roads, as well as a beach. So we headed pretty much straight up to the Cape, only stopping off at a bakery (top bakery in NZ - think that was a pun tbh) for morning tea and in a forest to look at the Kauri trees which are seriously old, they can live ... read more

Hey! So we took our first Kiwi Experience bus yesterday (Thursday). Had to be up really early to get the bus at 7 so pretty much slept on the bus all the way up because Amie and myself had been to see the preview of New Moon at midnight, so missed a lot of the beautiful countryside but it's cool cause this was just a straight up bus, not really stopping off to see anything anyway because they want you to get up to the bay of islands cause it's so beautiful. Which it is really, it's this big bay with 144 islands in it, you can't see them all from Paihia (Pie-hee-a) but you can take a number of different boat cruises. Our hostle is cheaper here but theres not a lot too it, just ... read more

Hello! I've had a sort of busy time since I last posted. I think that was Wednesday, so quick summary since then. A group of us went up the Sky Tower in the evening, highest building in the southern hemisphere I'm told, think it's 192m high. Awesome views out over Auckland. Came back to the hostel and got Dominos pizza between about 9 of us, nice. Thursday was the first really nice day, we went to this small park and just hung about for a while. Hopefully the weather is going to keep that up. It's still just the end of spring here, summer starts beginning of December. Gonna be using a lot of suncream, highest rate of skin cancer in the world over here. We watched a Kiwi film at the IEP centre in the ... read more

I apologise in advance but this is going to be a long post. Should be shorter from here on in. Just so much going on in the last few days. The rest of Hong Kong was cool, check out my facebook photos (add me mum!) to see what else we did. It basically envolved a bit more sightseeing and some drinking of very expensive cocktails ( 10 pounds) in a sky scraper bar. I enjoyed it but I feel I've done Hong Kong now, I don't think I would go back now. The flight to Auckland was okay, lot of turbulence and I was so tired but I couldn't sleep - very annoying. So tired when we arrived! It rained a bit - felt like home. Got picked up and taken to Mount Eden before heading ... read more

Hey! Here's my first blog entry, hopefully I will manage to keep it quite short! I met about half the group at the traveloge at Heathrow on Wednesday night and everyone seems really cool and friendly so that sort of calmed the nerves before heading off. The flight to Hong Kong was good, didn't seem to long and I managed to watch loads of films. Only thing was my feet ended up a bit swollen and i had cankles all over for the day - boo! Looking a bit better now, thank goodness! We've been in Hong Kong for just over 24 hours now. Think I've fought the jetlag very well, we got to the hotel about 9am but rooms werent ready so we dumped our bags and went out and got some food and wandered ... read more
