Hi, thanks for viewing my blog. I created this site to keep everyone back home up to date on our adventures and shenanigans whilst following the Wallabies around New Zealand for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

I will update as frequently as possible but at least once a week after each game. Since we are travelling around a fair bit in between games though, there should be plenty happening to keep the updates coming.

Stay tuned, and go the mighty Wallabies!!!

Day 7 (Friday 16/09) Today we made our way back to Auckland for the weekend's action of Rugby and partying. We said farewell to Napier and arrived in Auckland mid-afternoon and checked into the Nomads Fat Camel Backpackers. This backpackers is much closer to the Queens Wharf Fanzone and the Viaduct, which is full of bars and restaurants around a harbour area built for the Americas Cup. After checking in and getting settled, we headed into the Viaduct for some drinks at Degree 0 which was full of Aussies, before heading over to the Fanzone to watch the New Zealand vs Japan game. The Fanzone was the busiest we had seen it with the massive Heineken World Bar shoulder to shoulder. We managed to get a spot in front of the big screen and watched New ... read more

Apologies once again for the delayed posting, everything has been extremely busy and have had little time on the internet other than uploading photos to facebook etc. Anyway, our first week continued on Day 4 with a drive to Napier in Hawkes Bay on the eastern coast of the North Island. By the time we had checked out of Base Backpackers in Auckland and loaded the car, it was a 5 hour drive past Lake Taupo where will be staying later, before reaching Napier. Napier is an Art Deco style town which was re-built in this style following a massive earthquake in 1931. Napier was to host 2 RWC games in the coming weeks and therefore they had streets allocated to each of the nations to play there. There was the French Quarter, Canadian Quarter and ... read more

Well, it has been a crazy first week but thought I would update a couple of days at a time. Apologies for the lack of updates as we have had very little downtime in which to sit down and put pen to paper (or text to screen). Well after my cousin's 30th in Brisbane on the Friday night, the trip was off to a great start with a 9am flight out of Brisbane. Getting into Auckland it was evident how many fans were here from all countries with hundreds of French fans all decked out on their way to their game that afternoon. There also fans from every other country just showing their colours as they made their way around the city. For the first 3 days we were staying at the Base Backpackers right on ... read more

The countdown has been on for some time now and it felt so far away when it was 140 days to go. The big 100 day milestone came and went and now we are in single digits and its fast approaching. In 1 week today I will be in Brisbane for my cousins 30th before flying out the following morning to Shabangabang (New Zealand). Still so many things to do before we go, especially work wise, and not nearly enough time to do it. But the excitement should keep me going during the long nights in the office over the coming weeks. Can't wait. See you soon NZ.... read more
