Hi Everyone We are now well and truely on our way home.. we have stopped tonight in a tiny town about 130K's east of Ceduna. We are camped behind the local Pub (which is closed on Mondays).. with only two other caravenners. Going by the silos opposite it is a grain growing area. Over the past few days we have been at Bindoon, Southern Cross, Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Fraser Range Station, Madura, Nullabor Roadhouse. Found Kalgoorlie- Boulder absolutely fascinating.. only spent 2 nights but would like to have spent longer... we have attached a photo of the Super Pit ... which we think speaks for itself as to how amazing it is. Perhaps the highlight would have to be the one night spent at the Fraser Range Station... whilst it has destocked at the moment.. it is in ... read more

Hi everyone After spending 3 days at the beautiful 80 Mile Beach...relaxing and reading and watching again the most beautiful sunsets..we are now in Karratha for the night..weather again absolutely gorgeous. 80 Mile Beach was hit hard by a cyclone in December last year..which just about wiped it out... the trees are slowly recovering..but the beach is still beautiful. We are now well into our homeward journey.. we called into the Pardoo Roadhouse and heard the news that Kevin Rudd has stepped down.. until today we haven't seen any TV or a newspaper.. came as a great shock. We will be out of contact for the next few days..so until then. Take care Kath & Henry... read more

Hi there, Thank you for your comments, very much appreciated. Returned today from Cape Leveque...we decided to spend our time at Middle Lagoon and just swim and relax. Cape Laveque was booked out but we thought we might drive up there (about 70k's one way) but the beach won out. Really enjoyed our time. Called into Beagle Bay the home of the Nyul Nyul people and the location of the Sacred Heart Church.. refer photos. This is really a beautiful church which dates back to 1883. We head of tomorrow to 80 mile beach for three nights then we make our way to Denham... due there on Sat 26 June so for the next week we expect to be "off air". We trust that you are all keeping well. Till next 'blog" Kath and Henry... read more

Greetings from Broome Hi everyone After being out of contact for the past 10 days.. we are now back in communication (at least for a couple of days). Our Gibb River Road adventure was absolutely amazing.. the experience of staying on the various properties/stations unforgettable. Each and everyone quite different... learning the history of each working station so interesting.. in many we were privileged to join the homestead for dinner...meeting so many different people.. the scenery almost “mind blowing”...in some cases the driveways in from the Gibb River Road being up to 90Kms... we have crossed many rivers and creeks... driven over the most unbelievable corrugations.. (lost 2 UHF radio ariels. A very expensive exercise) The largest river crossing being the Pentecost River which was a little bit scary, but we managed. Whilst each property have ... read more

Hi everyone Have spent the last 3 days relaxing in Kununurra..we cannot believe the changes since we were here 4 years ago. Weather is absolutely gorgeous.. around 27c during the day with magnificent blue skies with temperature dropping down to 22c in the evening. Have spent pleasant evenings joining the other campers cooking dinner in the community kitchen..exchanging travel stories. Visited the Mirima (Hidden Vallley)National Park today..Locals call it the mini "Bungle Bungles".. very beautiful and went down to the Zebra Rock Gallery... this being the only area where Zebra rock is found in the world...quite unique, the rock having a ceiling date of 1200 million years. They make many beauiful things out of this rock including lovely pieces of jewellery. Tomorrow we are heading off to the Gibb River Road with first stop at El Questro ... read more

Hello to all After spending the afternoon and night at Renner Springs...yet another old interesting pub/roadhouse.. was warned on arrival by the park manager to beware of the resident geese.. as the apprently they chase the ladies and childred (so I was in deep trouble) however managed to steer clear. Some travellers informed us that the Gibb River Road maybe closed due to more recent heavy rain. Keeping our fingers crossed..that this won't be the case but will have to wait until we get to Kununurra to check this out. Checked out the Daly Waters Pub...the photos we attach will give you an idea of what it is like very rough but fascinating.. all these old pubs seem to be going the same way. We are now at Mataranka Homestead..just delightful, been for a soak in ... read more

Dear Family & Friends As I think we mentioned we decided to spend an extra day in Longreach as there is so much to see and do. Spent 2 1/2 hours at the Qantas Museum which was excellent.. even did the "wing walk"...just great. Caravan Park put on a meal and entertainment prior to the State of Origin (Qld v NSW) which was a real "hoot" The locals are really passionate about their game. Our next overnight stop was Kynuna...stopped for lunch at Winton (which is actually where Qantas was born) gorgeous place regret time did not allow us to explore further. Arrived at the Kynuna Roadhouse... which was established in the 1860's as a staging point for Cobb & Co coaches. Located in the middle of nowhere... facilities pretty rough... we managed to score the ... read more

Dear Family & Friends We have now been on the road for 4 days... eventually left Nth Balwyn on Friday 21st. So far all is going well and we a getting into the swing of the “Camping Ground” life. Camping Ground life is a totally new experience for us and we are amazed at the friendliness of everyone. When speaking to others we realise what “novices” we are. There are a number of people who are travelling up the York Peninsula..it seems to be the flavour of the month. Our Tvan has created much interest amongst everyone..people asking for inspection as they haven’t seen anything quite like it. It certainly is very comfortable for our needs and you don’t even know you are pulling something behind. Our overnight stops so far: Parkes, Bourke, Charleville (lovely place ... read more

Hi everyone Arrived in HK on Wednesday and cannot believe the changes in just 2 years. We have been spoilt by our friends the Lee's who have been most generous with their time. Weather not so good these past 2 days with the No.3 typhoon signal in place. It has been pouring with rain all day (how I wish we could have some in Melb). Star ferry terminal has been relocated and completely re-built further out into the harbour and theyare reclaiming more land. We have a beautiful view of the harbour from our room so have spent much of this afternoon watching the activities. Tomorrow we plan a nostalgic trip down to Stanley Market so hopefully it will have stopped raining. I am actually typing this blog on the TV screen in our room .... ... read more

Hi from Kanazawa, Arrived yesterday after a three hour train journey. Weather rather wet and cold (nothing like our last visit though, where everywhere was covered in thick snow. Revisited the beautiful Kenrokuen Gardens, only this time there were masses of blossoms - quite lovely. Then spent time walking through Kanazawa Castle and park (we are quite exhausted). Tomorrow back to Nagoya. Sorry but no photos this time as this system does not allow us to do so. Cheers for now and thanks for your comments, good to hear from you. K&H... read more
